Status update Still working on Russian assets. A lot of testing and fixing smaller issues. I also choose to add a new aircraft asset.30 points

Thanks, Slippa, my mods aren't up to ED standards. It's ok I like being independent as do most modders for DCS. So I'm sure you can relate to what I'm going through. Hey RWC. Nice, I'm sure it will be routine for the US Carriers to make pit stops in Oslo. Norway looks like a beautiful country. Just FYI, I have the Nansen and De Zeven Provinciën-class frigate in my collection as well. Timex3, no I'm still working on the USS Bowen. It's a complete rebuild of the old one. Two versions. Thanks DJOGOO77. I'm happy to hear that. I will finish what I started including the Cavour. I haven't forgotten about her. I'm packing the Italian mods for release later this week. Bbtbmb, thanks I appreciate that. It helps. I want to thank you all for the motivation and support guys it's something I don't have a lot of these days but I will be ok. It'll take time but I will get through It. I had to step back and look at how I create mods. Instead of trying to create the ship mods all at once in a few days like I used to. I will work on them in stages. Stage 1 creating UVs for the mod and texturing in Substance Painter. Stage 2 exporting the mesh, and textures from SP and texturing the mod. Stage 2 may require rework of the textures so it will take some time. Stage 3 is animating and coding all the weapons, props & radars. Coding requires a good eye because a letter, comma or period misplaced will cause problems. Stage 4 is testing the mods in DCS. This is the longest stage because it requires you to log into and out of DCS. This is how I create mods but others may work on them differently. I'm sure it's similar to how ED creates mods but of course, they have a team of guys to work on them. Thanks again, everyone. I have to get back to work. You all will have your hands on the Italian Mods Pack Beta this week. I will completely rework the FREMM Frigates and re-texture them. For some reason, they didn't turn out right. Thank you all for your patience. Stay tuned.9 points

The announcement of the next major avionics component, the Up Front Control Panel (UFCP). The UFCP is your primary control interface with the jet, you will spend a good portion of your cold start, and even in flight using it. While it looks complex, it is a very easy system to use once you know the tricks. We will provide tutorials on this further down the line. On show today is Menu Switching, Typing, Options Toggling and the Rocker Switch. We are still working on the cockpit model (Not Shown here), which is closing in on completion, with only minor fixes and details left to go. All going well you will see that in game in one of our next few updates. A special shoutout to Violent Nomad for supplying textures to our temporary model. And to JNelson from the A4e/F100D for creating a new debug tool, shown in the upper left, which has been extremely valuable. Once again Thank you for the support, images and stories being posted in the channels Cheers Hayds and the Caffeine Simulations Team note: in the clip you see me press Q on the keyboard, that resets the QNH to 2992, and is one of several keyboard shortcuts implemented7 points

Doing a rollback to previous version solves it. But we shouldn´t be doing those things, specially since there is no Open Beta anymore. I´m just complaning about the long waiting for a problem that´s already been fixed internally, more if that bug makes the product unusable.4 points

A quick and dirty deck texture update. The model itself is pretty decent. A couple of things to note: The FLOLS (Meatball) is completely absent. The SPS-49 radar lacks animation, as do the propellors. And then of course the CIWS do not have any gun barrels. I assume that this means the weapons are not currently programmed, I have not tested them yet. Would anyone be interested in the WIP deck textures? -Preston4 points

Of course, but I need to find suitable models to procure. I rely on donations for funding the models. Once again, a big thanks to all donators!4 points

The new raindrop effects like to pool on the windscreen at approach speed and cause more distortion than the old effects do, making linup difficult or sometimes impossible. Previously there wasn't a need for the windshield air rain repel function to actually work, but with the new rain effects we need it to help clear the windscreen for safe lineup in rainy CASE IIIs.3 points

At Detling the parking spots slope so much that your cold start plane starts rolling forward or backwards immediately. This wasn't the case when Detling was released, I'm not sure why terrain elevations there had to be messed with.3 points

So having received my base the other day I just thought I could share my impressions. I've fiddled around with the more "Analog" aircraft, Spitfire, Huey, F-14 and Viggen. And it's good. I would say that after a decent VR headset it's the best thing you could get. However it's more the combination of the two that's so good. One thing that I've not seen any mention anywhere is the fact that the joystick is pretty stiff when you start moving it from the center position. This makes you not overcorrecting the input - suddenly a hover in the Huey is pretty easy, the Spitfire is considerable calmer. Add to that feedback from buffeting etc. and there's a more "connected" feeling to the Aircraft. Although it's 2-3 times the cost of a decent joystick base, what you get is a "next level" experience.3 points

Yeah, kind of. The windscreen is blurred by raindrops and you do not have a clear view through it. It blows heated low pressure air on the windscreen to keep it clear from raindrops.3 points

Quote from Aug 8, 2020 newsletter: "The DCS World Dynamic Campaign Engine combines a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) engine with military forces and economics layers (production, logistics, use and transfer of resources) that pitch two opposing sides aided by advanced strategic and tactical AI. We have now completed the core RTS logic and have connected it to DCS World. We are currently finalising the basics of the in-game economic models. We will be working on the combat tasking logic and certain win-win situations in the near future. The last stage will be the Client - Server architecture needed to support large campaigns with on-going online sessions. We are certain that you will have many detailed questions and look forward to revealing more information on this module as and when we are in position to demonstrate some of the features live." And Jan 9, 2021: "This massive task has been underway for over two years, and the progress has been exciting. The campaign is built around a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) foundation that factors resources, zones of control, logistics, available forces, and a strategic decision-making system. While we believe internal testing will continue in the 1st quarter of 2021, it is too early to estimate a release date. However, external Beta testing is planned hopefully in Q2/Q3 2021." Well it's Q4 2024 and all I hear are crickets chirping . Has it been abandoned? Can we get an honest answer?3 points

What a nice graphics in DCS game. There was a release today of Sea Power game. Lots of inspiration (for modders), CMANO vibes etc. But ugly textures.3 points

Hello, I was beta testing a mission and noticed that my contrast I set on the tgp screen via the rocker would revert as soon as I switched the screen to another, such as the hsd. This also happens if you change the master mode from the tgp screen. I think its the contrast changing, it could be something else but hitting the contrast rocker again seems to revert it back to what the user set. Quick track attached showcasing it....marianas free flight. No mods used, clean caches. tgp contrast bug.trk tgp contrast bug2.trk2 points

Thanks for this, and yes experiment is necessary to find position you want, you know what is the files for ROE, BURST ..... ?2 points

The problem is that DCS lacks the means to provide effective differentiation. As long as CM are not physicalised, EW is still in the same status, the 2019-announced (or 2020?) missile API is still AWOL, a nanosecond in the notch defeats even laser beams, and so on, there is little justification to simply not get the one that has better kinematics. Blatant example: the old AIM-54A Mk60. I am really looking forward to seeing all the pieces in place to finally provide variety, facets, depth and peculiarities to air combat. I am just a bit disheartened by the fact that we will hardly get anything meaningful before the end or at least the last part of this decade. Anyway, back in topic, AIM-54 güd mizzle, but requires a bit of brain and effort to make it work2 points

Maybe not the right place to write this, but..... I also was a brief PCL-owner. I ordered it and deliverytime was pretty fast, like 15 days, where Pimas stated 3-4weeks in the EU. When I put it on the first time, it immedeatly felt strage. It did not fit may head (was too wide), which gave me a high pressure on the forehead. But I dont want to hold this against the PCL since a thinker face-cushion would probably have resolved that. But the real problem was the image. I do not have any technical expertise, but the lenses must have been off. Looking at a landscape and rotating my head, the landscape was wallowing/distorting. Moving my head up and down also caused quite some distortions. The image overall also made me almost instantly a bit dizzy and was very different to that of my G2, which I can wear for hours without problems. Also the sweetspot was pretty soft, so when looking at the bipper in the HUD, I could not aim at a target, because I was not able to see it correctly. Strange thing is, when I reduced the IPD from my 67 to 63 and lower, this spot got sharper. But everything else around got softer and my wide nose started to hurt, because it got squeezed by the headset. Anyway, from what I could tell, the lens were somewhat off. I did not check if they were correctly seated, since if I pay quite some money for a new headset, it should be assembled correctly. Since I instantly decided to send it back because of the mentioned problems, I did not want to test too much and risk doing any damage to it. The process of sending it back was pretty straight forward and I got my money back pretty fast. Even thouhg Pimax offered me a refund for my sending costs I payed them myself, since I took a higher price parcel with right amount of insurance. When sending back I added a brief note, asking to veryfy my problems and give me some feedback. I thought, since they have to check the unit, they can give me some feedback too. But I never got an answer. Anyway, this episode caused two things for me. 1) Im now much more happy with my G2, also since the FOV of the PCL did not seems very much bigger, which was my biggest concern with the G2. Since Im an old Win10-User, I for sure will use the G2 until something (like the cable) brakes. 2) Even I have sympathy torwards Pimax, Im now even more hesitant to order from them. I was before ordering, since I had read some of the comments on reddit, but now, that I also had problems, Im (at least for now) am not willing to take the chance again.2 points

We fix lots of different issues every patch, it all depends on dev time, and priorities which the project managers decide. We have to work with the resources we have and stay on budget. Those priorities wont always match yours or mine, but it is clear work is being done ( see our change logs ). DCS will never be completely bug free, we would love it to be, but that isn't realistic, and that is why if you read the EULA ( that you agreed to ) you will find it mentioned. I do hope many of you here continue to enjoy DCS, have fun and look forward to future fixes and content. thank you2 points

You are not alone. As nice as it would be to see an f-86 updated in graphics, the aircraft would still be very enjoyable even as it is, provided, however, that the countless bugs that have come out over time are fixed. First of all the bugs, and I'll stop complaining. Then, if there is time left over and it is economically advantageous, maybe even the upgrade as for the a-10 and ka-50.2 points

The DC is a massive task and requires a lot of time and developement. As already mentioned in the posts above, it has not been abandoned. Patience is the key word2 points

If you’ve heard the expression “Perfect is the enemy of good enough” I think that may entirely be the case here. This has been built up in the minds of the players to such a degree I fear they’ll never feel it’s good enough. I’d settle for a good enough DC now rather than a perfect one in five more years.2 points

Sure, if you can finalize them and want to contribute them, I'll push them out in an update. Cheers, TeTeT2 points

You need a vehicle nearby to rearm, I am assuming this is because someone just can't carry the missile over from a warehouse, but I will check. In my case, I used a ZIL-135. It does take time though, it was about 43 minutes from the first launch to the second launch. Hope that helps.2 points

But Karon, why shouldn’t we expect late 60’s and early 70’s computer systems to work as perfectly as our 2024 cell phones? You act like a Phoenix doesn’t have the computing power to run pacman. Oh yea, it DOESN’T. An Arduino would run circles around it. Why should we expect it to work like janky early computers, it’s running on the fastest computer I could afford, so it should be that good /s2 points

It shouldn't if mission is set up properly. If your bombs are still missing in a mission with no wind then it's gps/navigation problem, if it hits with no wind but misses with wind then it's the bug linked above. Edit: better wording2 points

too bad ED is also very keen on keeping that to themselves while sabotaging mod weapons2 points

Thanks, I'll take a look. I wish. It's up to ED to make missile schemes that allows for these maneuvers. It's going very well. I'm still working on new assets. I'll post a status update soon.2 points

Been many times over the years. Always worthwhile. Thirty odd years ago I straddled one of the guns out front and had my picture taken. Fifteen inch guns I think they are. I wouldn't condone sitting on em now. There's a few bits I always check out. That Spit hanging up there was flown by Noel Agazarian of 603 Sqn at one point. He flew during the Battle of Britain. I knew a pilot that flew with him on the squadron and always spend a bit of time upstairs with it. Bit of trivia - Opposite the bus stop outside the museum is where Captain William Bligh lived. He lived there after the mutiny on the Bounty. I think they do B&B now. You'll have to do Belfast and Hendon but really have to do IWM Duxford if you haven't already.1 point

Hi... I always fly in VR, and the addition of the pilot's body has been a turning point due to the realism and having the kneeboard at a glance, but I can't see the oxygen tube when I look at my chest, in fact, I found out it existed when I forced my head forward and "suddenly" it appeared. On the other hand, when I move my head, the body also moves from one side to the other, I don't know if it's intentional, but it's not very real.1 point

I noticed I was moving too, threw me a bit. On N2 I spawned cold in a French slot and the aircraft was rotating slowly on the spot. When I rolled out there were two bomb craters where my wheels had been. Wondering how far this stretches and to how many airfields.1 point

which are in the OPs original post, feels like nothings happening with it and we are just over at 4 in1 point

you should watch the track because Ive tried that many times. Ive done everything that was asked. I havent played the training mission since I reported this as I understand how the radar works now, but Ill give it a shot later to see if its been fixed.1 point

Hello @gonvise This is done by design. The mask is attached to the head model and once you're in a first person perspective, the head is removed entirely to avoid it being in the way. That's why you say it "suddenly appears", because you moved forward and actually crossed the threshold where the entire head appears. And yes, it's intentional the pilot body moves with your own head movements.1 point

thank you for sharing I will mention it to the team1 point
