Made a little video with the new OH-6 patch. Love the strut compression and skid friction physics! Well done guys! I know it's been mentioned before a few times but a virtual pilot body would really complete this mod/ module. Otherwise I'm running out of any constructive criticisms. Chopper feels bloody brilliant Oh, there is a little bug - when landing on the school bus, if you land a little too far forward on the pad, or a little too far backward, the skids fall/go through the pad at the edge. Just a minor thing (not seen in the video).9 points

I flew the Viggen a lot on its first year on dcs, 2017 if I remember correctly, but your great manual rewrite is what made me return to it … just wanted to thank you properly for the effort and let you know that it is appreciated… and of course my thanks to Heatblur for the effort on keeping this Module updated and ever-improving it5 points

many people don't like my way, but use this PC just for DCS and nothing else, no work, no personal data, no on-line shopping, no porn …. So I just tell my antivirus not to touch my DCS folders, as I trust ED’s software to have no viruses.5 points

знаю :))) я бы купил новый "правильный" Кавказ с правильным рельефом и с правильными реальными городами,как в мфс или хотя бы,как в иле. Думаю тут все бы купили такой Кавказ!!!5 points

Thank you all for the positive comments! I'd really like to keep adding to the mod but I've sort of hit the limits of what the current weather engine can do. For example, I'd like to add more cirrus cloud textures. Currently the game can only use 4 texture files for cirrus. I'd also like to see better density and contrast in the clouds. Hopefully the weather engine will make its way back into the development cycle for ED soon.5 points

Well, I'm not really working in cooperation with ED. Whenever they release an update, I go through it part by part and see what's new and what's been updated/changed. Some changes will add features that I can add to my assets, but more often the changes break some of my assets (mostly guided weapons) and I will have to find some sort of workaround. I have no information about the changes before the updates are released. Everything is trial and error. Edit: And to avoid discussions in this thread, if you have questions about integration of my assets into DCS, send me a message for details. But the short answer is no.4 points

From total failure of 2.9.8 to just a failure of 2.9.9 spotting dots in VR changed from big blobs to smaller squares (2x2px). Still too large and too visible for any resemblance to RL. Ugly, unrealistic, unneeded. F-16C rear aspect visible up to over 10nmi. Closing in the black square disappears at 1.7nmi and finally I can see 1 faint pixel, just as it's supposed to look. Where's the logic in this madness? When the aircraft flies away and gets to 1 pixel, gets barely visible at 1.7nmi and then suddenly big black square appears instead and I can see the target very clearly as it flies away for another 10nmi? How can the aircraft grow with distance and then stay the same size for 10nmi? Any dev can share the maths or physical phenomena behind this? Please turn it off, get away with it. It's a simulator. I don't need helpers. It looked good for years - why do you mess with it? PS. This was with PD 1.4-1.5.4 points

Well, so far so good i was able to edit the mod an make it work with some issues: 1.- I wasnt able to reproduce all the effects from the original mod because shaders errors at loading. 2.- Because of that the Catapult Steam effect SHOULD not be exactly the same as before. Tested and working well but maybe is not the same. 3.- I wasnt able to make the explosions smoke last longer, even editing the World.lua where the times should be expanded. I cant find where to edit that parameter to make the smoke last longer as before. But the effects, color, lod distance are working as expected. 4.- No crashes on my end on any explosion of any ordinance ( cluster bombs, CBU, Mk series ) 5.- Water Explosions working with the different tone. 6.- is VERY POSSIBLE that i´ve made some mistakes on some files so DONT EXPECT TO BE AS THE ORIGINAL MOD with everything. 7.- OVGME ready. Just delete _EDITED from the zip file name, if OVGME doesnt recognize it. If anyone with a wider knowledge can be able to search and try to fix the smoke time, the rest is working as far as i know. DISCLAIMER: This mod was created by Taz1004. All credits go for him. If someone thinks i should not edit his mod i will remove the link. They are just stock files from DCS edited but i dont want any credit about the mod. This is Taz1004 work. Taz1004_Better_Smoke_v22_EDITED.zip4 points

Today we announce our Data Cartridge System (DTC) The DTC in the Talon loads navigational databases, training zones, targets, jet configuration etc. What will this look like for you guys: For the pilot, this will allow you to preprogram the jet to your taste, examples include: 1. HUD mode (F-16 or MIL-STD) 2. DDS behaviour (more on this later) 3. ADI symbology (CDM or Waterline) 4. Altitude warning modes (and their values) These are persistent, and will save you time configuring the jet, as you will likely fly with the same settings each flight. For the MILSIM training squadrons: 1. Instructor pilots will be able to have a generic file for their entire fighter wing training school 2. Custom training zones 3. No fly zones 4. Low level routes 5. Targets etc. Editing your DTC * The DTC file is clearly laid out, well documented, and easy to modify manually * If an error is made during editing, the jet will revert to default settings, and post an error message for you We are looking into a separate application based solution for editing the DTC file, but this will likely come after initial release Thanks for your continued support Hayds_93 and the Caffeine Simulations Team3 points

I understand the barrel roll maneuver from my trackfiles is legit and not some kind of bug abuse/exploit but a feature of the 120B/C and new missile API because they have realistic computing delay for the intercept and during heavy maneuvers that error accumulates causing the high G miss just short of the target. Maybe the community should rethink banning people for this in multiplayer? (i didn't get banned anywhere lmao) What is your opinion on this?3 points

greetings. I'm still here, not as active as before. Unfortunately, life has other plans, and I would like to be such an active member. I have the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes and I am still unemployed. I know I can't provide value to be able to work in this world, but I don't give up. I believe that we can continue fighting for our fans, from a distance and who knows what the future holds for us. I'm still here for you. maybe you could explain what the relevance is of "code based libraries based on the embargoed IP from the patents that just expired" to the issue that Walmis brought up? Walmis is not asserting a patent was infringed on, he's stating he owns the copyright to the source code and has chosen to release that source code under GPL (not making it "proprietary", that was your word not his). GPL requires that the source code for all derivative works must also be released into the public domain. Walmis asserts that there is evidence that the source code was copied , and that the derivative work by Moza was not placed in the public domain as required. He didn't threaten legal action, although it would be within his legal to right to do so under copyright law since he is the copyright holder, and since gpl is a license not a contract - which is an important distinction in many countries where IP is concerned. This brings us to the question - is copyright law in once country enforceable in another country? Maybe, but there's a lot to unpack there, and its beyond the scope of this conversation. Looks like to me that Walmis has chosen just to call them out with the hopes that either 1) Moza will release their source code into the public domain so that we may all benefit (the original intent of GPL), or 2) that people think twice before purchasing Moza FFB hardware given the likelihood that they infringed on his license. I tried my best to give a thoughtful response to your 3 posts, so that you might have a better understanding of the issue. Hopefully, that has happened:)3 points

Just roll?? BTW high-g barrel roll is the worst type of maneuver to intercept. And not in DCS only, but IRL as well. Unfortunately, not much. We already readjusted amraams Kalman filter twice in last two years because of reports on forum. The "problem" here is indeed lag/delay in guidance command. But any real system have such a lag(bc filtering always introduce some lag). Minimal level of filtering/smoothing(and lag) is limited by noises(mostly by glint at short distances) and excessive reducing of smooting will lead to increased missidstance because missile will react to noise inputs and twitch. So, there is always a tradeoff between missile agility and terminal guidance accuracy. I've made some additional changes last week that should make missile a bit more agile, but should not increase much missdistance due to noise. However, missile will stay vulnerable to high-g barrel rolls anway, just will require a higher roll rate to be defeated. Current level of filtering is already quite low and its further reducing require unrealistically low level of noises. I would like to avoid such changes.3 points

I cant seem to avoid enemy AI fighters when I play multiplayer server. No matter what I do they find me. They can be 50 miles away and turn around and come straight for me, even when Im flying under 50’. I can hide by landing in a city or forest but they still come right for me and shoot me on the ground. I was wondering if this is a problem with AI having an unrealistic situational awareness or is the Apache transmitting something that is easily detectable? Its incredibly frustrating!2 points

As soon as they released this new feature I added it to one of my ships. Unfortunately I discovered too many bugs regarding its current implementation that it wouldn't be a positive addition for now. Check the bug section in the forum for more information. If ED implements this feature well I will surely implement it too.2 points

A major "D'oh" moment for me. Realized why I was getting longer 1st startup times on my config - I effin' forgot to update Defender exclusion list after moving my DCS folder to another drive! Did just that now and all is fine again with loading times.2 points

Yeah Happy Birthday Mos. In fairness, there was some work done on the Mossie. Just before Christmas time they broke the suspension and we had about eight months of whining before it was put right. I had a load of ‘test missions’ I’d made of me taking off, orbiting and landing using different airfields on various maps. I was still making them when it was fixed so never needed to post them. I spent ages doing them too. I’m fine with that as we have a working Mossie again which is all I was worried about. I s’pose I could always do with the practice. While technically not abandoned this wasn’t quite the work we’d hoped to see though was it. I’m on the fence when it comes to the auto-pilot so don’t mind it as is, though I understand without someone else to take the nav seat things can get tricky. As Terry pointed out, pxllux swept to the rescue and gave us the help needed, cheers pxllux, it works too. I flew it last night for a bit. At one point there were three or four in the air and a couple of us flew in formation for a while. Looked and sounded great while it lasted. I’m still a bit miffed it isn’t the fastest thing in the air as I thought it was meant to be (in it’s day) but that’s more to do with the mad plane set we have I think. I still love it, just needs a bit of TLC.2 points

I have to laugh! At least we both get for .... off-topic bullshid ... This topic was about the patch, was it? OK, now in order to steer the ship back into the right direction, and in order to not get banned, I have to say that I am super-super-super happy about Heatblur making updates and repairs for the Viggen. This is one of the main reasons why I am still so much in DCS. Otherwise, I would have difficulties keeping my interest. The Viggen is my most beloved module and none of the other modules changed that (at least so far), despite differences in quality and complexity (e.g. the F-4E, which in these terms is A BLAST).2 points

You don't have to. Fortunately there are some kind souls who share what should be ED's development work. You can get this from user file downloads.. Thank you pxllux. ( I use Voice Attack to provide the sequence of keystroke for operation and also to reset the original radio channel . Still working on it as the radio reset screws up sometimes, but the autopilot bit works fine). Here if anyone using VA wants it. autopilot.vap2 points

With the addition of FD I tried my first ILS approach. Tuned ILS Ramat David, Localizer needle was working correctly. FD bars after capturing GS also worked but the GS pointer left on the ADI remained in the lowest position. Good to have FD bars now for steering commands. Hopefully this weird GS pointer thing can be found with the track attached. It's not happening all the time. 20241103_RamatDavid_FD_ILS_approach.trk2 points

And another one….. We need a counter for false positive AV panic threads. (not hitting on OP, just a general observation!) Using McAfee is a mistake in the first place. It does nothing but promising a (false) feel of security to unsuspecting users and in reality just startles them with false positives more often than not. To be clear, most AVs are guilty of that. Since the quota of false positives outweighs the actual catches of malicious stuff, they are basically useless. McAfee is just an extra <profanity>ty one. The real protection against malware is behaviour and awareness. That‘s like 95% of the protection. AVs are complementary at best. And still there is no perfect protection. If you positively need certain data to be safe, make backups and don’t use the same machine for playtime. Some actual advice: Try to stay cool, a false alarm is much more likely than an actual malicious file (assuming you stay clear of dubious file sharing etc). Go to virustotal.com and have the file in question checked. You will get much better and more reliable results there than from any single AV.2 points

I almost forgot what a terrific campaign this is, mission 5 was a pucker factor!2 points

The community decided to ban this maneuver not because it is a legit feature of the missile, but because when you do a high G barrel roll in multiplayer you start teleporting, making you invulnerable to everything. I want to report this bug (beta testers says that there is an internal report open for this, cause of this problem: netcode desync because of link16), but i need an empty server to generate a short trackfile.2 points

Sunrise time is at ground level not at altitude. It works this way in real life too. Sun up early up high. You should try flying in the high latitudes. I have seen the sunrise in the north at midnight2 points

You might want to make your new pilot INVULNERABLE in the logbook. If you don't and you die in a mission that pilot is dead and gone.2 points

Good thing I never had that as a test question when I went through TPS or I never would have graduated ... ! No I just put in 'ACES II' but I'll try that next. This is like when you go to a restaurant and see "Ahi tuna' on the menu. 'Ahi' is the Hawaiian word for yellowfin tuna so the menu actually reads ' yellowfin tuna tuna' .. kinda silly ...2 points

Yes, of course, this is the most advantageous option financially, but on the other hand I think that sooner or later, someone who buys part of the map will eventually buy the rest.2 points

I'm not talking about mission creation. Quick start - airfield deserted, nothing moving anywhere, there should be more life by default. Like option "populate airport" or something like that. We have been asking for this from very start....2 points

This genre benefits from innovators and start ups. Without them we wouldnt have high end rudder pedals, collectives or a new generation of FFB at all. Each to their own in the choices they make but I'll be staying well clear of a company for whom even the simplest, least arduous and mutually benefical terms of an open source licence are simply things to be plagiarised and be rolled over without concern.2 points

Just a heads up for everybody interested in the Moza FFB stick. It seems that Moza has pretty shamelessly used the Rhino Software (TelemFFB) as "inspiration" (cough) for their effects software - including ctrl+c, ctrl+v. Which is fine (fair use rules) if they also open source their software. (Which I'm not aware of right now). However, keep in mind who deserves the recognition here and who put in the real work! Cheers!2 points
