The Digital Coalition Air Force (DCAF) is pleased to announce that it is opening recruitment once again. Sharpen your skills and get the best out of what DCS has to offer. We are currently doing selection for controllers (whether ATC, GCI/ABM, JTAC/FAC), F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16C Viper, and F/A-18C Hornet. DCAF is a organised and academic milsim group with most of its community based in the EU. We pride ourselves on our structured online training curriculum, instructors, and the ops that we offer. Presently, we alternate between a training and operations season, the former is used to train new cadets to the required squadron standard, and for current members to stay current. We undertake this rigorous training program to ensure that all our members meet the standards required for operations, getting the best experience from the immersive scenarios our mission makers create. Our times: During training seasons we fly as a group every Thursday 1830GMT/BST with individual squadron training happening on Tuesdays or over the weekends. It is a minimum requirement to regularly attend every Thursday, and dependent on some roles, attend twice a week due to instructor workload and meaningful progression. During operations seasons we alternate weeks between planning/practice and executing the missions where the minimum attendance requirement is at least twice a month. Our squadrons: (v)RAAF No.75 Squadron 'Magpies' - F/A-18C Hornet No.75 Squadron is DCAF's newest addition to the line-up with the ambition to provide unparalleled versatility and multirole capability to operations. Commitment, tenacity, and self-improvement are core values to our squadron's culture. After completing our comprehensive training program, you'll be adept at roles ranging from CAP against 4th generation threats in BVR or WVR, to low-level strike and aerial interdiction against the toughest of targets - regardless of the environment or conditions. Join the Magpies and learn to seek and strike. (v)USAF 119th ‘Jersey Devils’ - F-16C Viper 119th 'Jersey Devil's is DCAF's dedicated "Wild Weasels", specializing in hunting and killing enemy SAMs and SHORAD systems, clearing a path for the other squadrons. We are looking for pilots that accept high risk, that are flexible and able to solve problems fast and creatively as they pop up. We are usually first in and last to leave, and we rely on our own ability to defend against air and ground threats alike! If you like fast and dynamic problem solving, and love flying the "racing model" of all airframes, then you might have what it takes to be a Devil! (v)USAF 335th ‘Chiefs’ - F-15E Strike Eagle The 335th ‘Chiefs’ is DCAF’s premier air-to-air squadron, traditionally focused on advanced fighter tactics and air superiority. With the introduction of the F-15E Strike Eagle, the Chiefs have embraced its multirole capabilities, expanding their legacy of precision air combat into the strike domain. Thanks to the F100-PW-229 engines, APG-70 radar, and heavy load capacity, the Strike Eagle allows our pilots to stay on station longer, fly higher, and strike harder than any other platform in DCAF’s roster. If you are interested in rigorous training, mastering both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations, and getting the best out of what DCS has to offer, this is the squadron for you. By the end of your training, you will be able to operate effectively in a flight, execute four-ship tactical formations (TACFORM), and conduct Beyond Visuals Range (BVR) engagements in any weather or time of day – all without datalink. You will be trained in both Defensive and Offensive Counter Air (DCA/OCA) fundamentals to tailor the squadron’s air-to-air tasking to any mission scenario, including Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM) execution and air to air refueling (AAR) - day or night. Beyond air combat, you will also learn to employ the Strike Eagle’s unique precision strike capability – from JDAM and LGB missions to low-level ingress and pop-up attacks at night in hostile airspace. The 335th blends traditional air superiority doctrine with modern strike tactics, making our pilots adaptable, effective, and ready for any tasking. If you’re looking for structure, challenge, and camaraderie – the Chiefs are waiting for you. Wampum! Combined Controller and Support Wings: DCAF started as a place to practice radio telephony with real-life procedures and continues to do so. Air Traffic Controllers and Aerospace Battle Managers are a mainstay in our operations, providing a great setting for both experienced and aspiring controllers to hone their skills. We are accessible for those looking to see what it takes to run our air operations (whether you're freelancing in the DCS community or a military/commercial professional). Our Support Wing helps deliver an immersive experience for DCAF's operations (role playing, logistics, and other supernumery roles). We provide FREE licences for LotAtc on our servers for both members and guests. Simple Radio Standalone is used for radio communications, with Combined Arms being required for ground roles. How to apply: APPLICATION FORM If you are interested in joining, please apply using the above link, then join our Discord (feel free to use the @Recruitment Officer tag in the new-members-chat to ask any questions). Successful applicants will be invited for an introductory talk. Due to some roles being competitive, checkrides are given to select the appropriate candidates, these steps will be laid out by your Recruitment Officer. It is a good idea to be familiar with the module that you are applying for (i.e. ability to air to air refuel and understand basic combat systems), as these will be assessed. Due to the nature of our training and operations seasons, you should be confident that at least the first 6 months will generally be free for you to attend (holidays, annual leave etc. of course are absolutely fine). Ideally, candidates who will have a predictable schedule for the next year are preferred. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the training season, DCAF Recruitment Team https://discord.com/invite/F94F4FUsXG https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home

Hi all, first post here on the DCS forums but have been at DCS for a while with the Hornet, Harrier and Viper, I'd like to share one of my creations! Should bring some nostalgia to some of you!

I am having much trouble with my Hornet cockpit display alignment. When I start the module it gives me the attached view. I can shift it somewhat with R-shift/4 or 5 but it is unflyable. When I start all of my other modules they are correctly aligned. Is it possible for me to remove this module and reinstall it?

Never seen that before. Maybe it's old. Used to be, fly through power lines, nothing happens (power line tower strike has always been a thing). What's new? Visible flash on power line strike (nice touch), propeller vibrates whole plane (only apparent at low speed) but engine doesn't stop. Big chunks of three blades gone. New damage graphic(?), all four blades damaged on ground strike(at least in old 2.5.6). Someone (me?) will use the track, take control and see if and how much top speed is reduced and whine if it isn't. spitpowerlines.trk

I just have to share this interesting interview with some awesome (and slightly scary) footage from cold war era Swedish air force. Maybe this could be a collection thread for this kind of videos? English text is available!

Left of line up short beeps. Lined up steady tone. Right of line up longer beeps. For the record, not saying exactly like the Bf 109 (need to check more than just cursory). Also, "sabredancer" on hoggit observed the Spitfire has gotten the "A.1271" homing radio in Mission Editor. No controls in game I can find (or possibly understand). Attached mission (.miz) file works for 109 and P-47. On spawn: -P-47, turn on Detrola -Bf 109, switch "Fug16 Homing Switch" from "FT FT" to "Y ZF". then it will start beeping... Changing Detrola freq it'll go away, so tuning works. I'm told: Bf 109 and P-47 nav to kobuleti 111.5.miz

The Artificial Horizon is very often badly out of whack (henceforth "wrong"), as many have noted. A little surprised that despite really trying (loop, roll ...) I have yet to find a quick way to get it "wrong". I'd love to make a short track but I couldn't. Interestingly, one real Mk IX (see film), messes up it's horizon anytime it rolls and then takes 9 minutes to self correct. Two things. DCS Spitfire horizon does not get "wrong" on rolling and it never self corrects (at least not in 80 minutes). Anyway, after 50 minutes, I manage to make it wrong by doing "donuts" and then finally I could do the test I set out to do: 1) Parked on runway, RPM 2200 (to provide suction) for 40 minutes+, horizon does not not self correct. 2) Fly plain and level for 40 minutes+, horizon is not self correcting. Note1, the 50 minutes Batumi - Soochi were flown straight and level to see if it would get wrong spontaneously. It didn't) Note2, I found the behavior after it's "wrong" weird. If I turn, in the air or on the rwy, I can get the horizon "right" again) Real life video references. 1) Hadley, Spitfire MK IX. https://youtu.be/Njjl_smtMoQ Within the first 40 sec, one can visually see the horizon creep in self correcting while on the ground. 2) Spitfire Mk IX crossing the channel. https://youtu.be/O-_AwgYxUW0 At 17:01 it rolls. Horizon gets instantly wrong. Watching from 18:06 (film cut) horizon is 90 degrees wrong. After 7 min (25:00) it's corrected itself in roll axis and after 2 more minutes it corrected itself in pitch axis too (total 9 min to completely self correct). The real Mk IX, in the film, rolls twice (at least), at 17:01 and at 27:15 (31:40, 32:40, 37:50, 38:47, 39:08, 39:40). Both (all) times the horizon gets instantly screwed up. Seems any roll always messes up the horizon in the real thing. In DCS it does not. Anyone so inclined can fast forward my track to the end (~10:24 [F2] time) to quickly verify non straight horizon is not just me.By [F2] time, I mean the lower right corner clock. ~ Track timestamps ([F2] view) to fast forward to: 8:00:00 Takeoff Batumi. 8:49:30 Full stop Soochi, horizon still good. Repair (nothing) Refuel. 8:52:00 Start donuts. Horizon gets "wrong". 8:59:15 - 9:42:15 Parked runway, horizon "wrong", RPM 2200 for 40+ min. Observe horizon not correcting. 9:43:40 - 10:25:12 Takeoff, course 270 (gyro) fly plain & level 40+ min. Horizon not correcting. Installation completely kosher, no mods no nothing. DCS 2.7.6.12852 Open Beta (recorded track) DCS 2.7.6.13133 Open Beta (replay) Intel Core i7 3630QM @ 2.40GHz (Max Turbo 3.40 GHz) 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M 447GB KINGSTON SA400S37480G (SATA-2 (SSD)) (~ 9:43:40) Soochi takeoff. Horizon "wrong" (10:23:40) After 40 min+ flight plain and level . Horizon still "wrong". spitfire_horizon_v2.trk

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing great. So, It's my first short film. It's been almost three months since the new cloud was updated. I was inspired by the match between ACE and FALCO (Thanks! mover!) We did this every weekend for three months and it was pretty funny and painful. I look forward to doing more of this in the future. Hope you guys enjoy it! By the way, we are not used to English so i hope you guys understand.

I was unable to playback mission I flew on a Hoggit multiplayer server last night. Does DCS record multiplayer flights the same as single player?

Hello guys, I'm trying to make my first DCS cinematic videos since I love what everyone else does but I'm having some issues and searching the internet didn't solve it for me. So I have the replay and I want to catch footage of the fight. There are two issues: The text box for incoming/outgoing radio transmissions (how to remove it?) Audio from the incoming/outgoing radio transmissions (how to disable it?) I want to use real audio of the footage as well, so that's why I need the transmissions audio to be muted.

Me and my buddy Gnomus in the Cat on 4ya. This was only against an AI 18, but my hands were shaking. This was my first time in the front seat on a multiplayer server, so pretty damn cool.

-Locked left wheel. -Powered up slightly, to make the castor turned maximally and stopped. -Unlocked left wheel. - Powered up again: watch video. It's not a super market trolley (castoring wheel) but this looks wrong (IMO). Shouldn't it straighten out immediately (and then weakly turn left)? I can imagine damping being built into the castoring but this looks and acts (not just cosmetic) like its rusted nearly stuck.

Is there any software or idea to record picture from VR but without this frame and in rectangular, wide proportions? Sometimes I see videos from DSC and from VR but it looks normally, like 16:9 picture on YouTube. If I record video direct from DCS it looks like this (on screenshot below). I use OBS studio https://obsproject.com/ . Example: Any ideas?

Everyone, here is a cool little cinematic I just put together if you are interested in checking it out!

I've recently received my 3080, so naturally I did some testing on how far I can push VR DCS wrt to settings. The results are very promising but mixed. It seems that another planes (even stationary ones, like on the Caucasus free flight mission, stationed at Senakhi-Kolki) can tank the fps regardless of hardware used. There are other strange drops in really strange places, like for example when flying upside down, or looking to the floor of the jet at the stick's base (inconsistent). What's more interesting it turns out that the thing tanking frames on the supercarrier isn't the supercarrier itself, but the models on it, which you can see later in the video. Here you can find a recording of my flight with fpsVR graph at the bottom. Video contains both the Caucasus and the Persian Gulf maps, on the later I'm launching from Supercarrier. The audio is in Polish - it is a recording of a twitch stream I did for my friends playing DCS. You can ignore it, although a follow would be much appreciated, thanks! The important part is that you can see the fps, the CPU and GPU usage and frametimes. I was using Speed of Heat's conversion of Kegetys shader mod, IC - compatible. No other mods. System specs for this video: i7-9700k @ stock on a z390 Aorus Elite board 32GB G.Skill Trident-Z RGB RAM 3200 MHz @ 3600 GeForce RTX 3080 MSI Gaming X Trio Valve Index VR headset If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Made this a while back but never thought to post it to the forums! Hope you enjoy.

Here's my first flight from yesterday for anyone interested. Flew the Hornet and the Huey. My impressions were "mixed" if I'm honest. I spent a couple of hours in cockpit just flying around taking in the terrain. The video below is edited down to 25 minutes of that experience. Chapters are included so you can skip to spots I felt were worth calling out. My favorite part of the video starts at the 12 minute mark where I discover Bodo in the Hornet. VR performance is "okay". If I let myself get immersed, I don't notice anything that breaks the immersion. If I look for the studders, I see them. For me, I can live with this. Helo flight starts at the 17:15 mark of the video. The fact they haven't even tested VR (stated in Social Media) floors me. I am amazed it runs this well with no attention to VR from the devs. Highpoint: Bodo Terrain in the Hornet (12:00 mark of video) Lowpoint: 2 CTDs (DCS completely stopped executing and was killed). First captured at 3:40 of video coming from F10 map to F1 cockpit in Hornet.
