The Digital Coalition Air Force (DCAF) is pleased to announce that it is opening recruitment once again. Sharpen your skills and get the best out of what DCS has to offer. We are currently doing selection for controllers (whether ATC, GCI/ABM, JTAC/FAC), F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16C Viper, and F/A-18C Hornet. DCAF is a organised and academic milsim group with most of its community based in the EU. We pride ourselves on our structured online training curriculum, instructors, and the ops that we offer. Presently, we alternate between a training and operations season, the former is used to train new cadets to the required squadron standard, and for current members to stay current. We undertake this rigorous training program to ensure that all our members meet the standards required for operations, getting the best experience from the immersive scenarios our mission makers create. Our times: During training seasons we fly as a group every Thursday 1830GMT/BST with individual squadron training happening on Tuesdays or over the weekends. It is a minimum requirement to regularly attend every Thursday, and dependent on some roles, attend twice a week due to instructor workload and meaningful progression. During operations seasons we alternate weeks between planning/practice and executing the missions where the minimum attendance requirement is at least twice a month. Our squadrons: (v)RAAF No.75 Squadron 'Magpies' - F/A-18C Hornet No.75 Squadron is DCAF's newest addition to the line-up with the ambition to provide unparalleled versatility and multirole capability to operations. Commitment, tenacity, and self-improvement are core values to our squadron's culture. After completing our comprehensive training program, you'll be adept at roles ranging from CAP against 4th generation threats in BVR or WVR, to low-level strike and aerial interdiction against the toughest of targets - regardless of the environment or conditions. Join the Magpies and learn to seek and strike. (v)USAF 119th ‘Jersey Devils’ - F-16C Viper 119th 'Jersey Devil's is DCAF's dedicated "Wild Weasels", specializing in hunting and killing enemy SAMs and SHORAD systems, clearing a path for the other squadrons. We are looking for pilots that accept high risk, that are flexible and able to solve problems fast and creatively as they pop up. We are usually first in and last to leave, and we rely on our own ability to defend against air and ground threats alike! If you like fast and dynamic problem solving, and love flying the "racing model" of all airframes, then you might have what it takes to be a Devil! (v)USAF 335th ‘Chiefs’ - F-15E Strike Eagle The 335th ‘Chiefs’ is DCAF’s premier air-to-air squadron, traditionally focused on advanced fighter tactics and air superiority. With the introduction of the F-15E Strike Eagle, the Chiefs have embraced its multirole capabilities, expanding their legacy of precision air combat into the strike domain. Thanks to the F100-PW-229 engines, APG-70 radar, and heavy load capacity, the Strike Eagle allows our pilots to stay on station longer, fly higher, and strike harder than any other platform in DCAF’s roster. If you are interested in rigorous training, mastering both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations, and getting the best out of what DCS has to offer, this is the squadron for you. By the end of your training, you will be able to operate effectively in a flight, execute four-ship tactical formations (TACFORM), and conduct Beyond Visuals Range (BVR) engagements in any weather or time of day – all without datalink. You will be trained in both Defensive and Offensive Counter Air (DCA/OCA) fundamentals to tailor the squadron’s air-to-air tasking to any mission scenario, including Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM) execution and air to air refueling (AAR) - day or night. Beyond air combat, you will also learn to employ the Strike Eagle’s unique precision strike capability – from JDAM and LGB missions to low-level ingress and pop-up attacks at night in hostile airspace. The 335th blends traditional air superiority doctrine with modern strike tactics, making our pilots adaptable, effective, and ready for any tasking. If you’re looking for structure, challenge, and camaraderie – the Chiefs are waiting for you. Wampum! Combined Controller and Support Wings: DCAF started as a place to practice radio telephony with real-life procedures and continues to do so. Air Traffic Controllers and Aerospace Battle Managers are a mainstay in our operations, providing a great setting for both experienced and aspiring controllers to hone their skills. We are accessible for those looking to see what it takes to run our air operations (whether you're freelancing in the DCS community or a military/commercial professional). Our Support Wing helps deliver an immersive experience for DCAF's operations (role playing, logistics, and other supernumery roles). We provide FREE licences for LotAtc on our servers for both members and guests. Simple Radio Standalone is used for radio communications, with Combined Arms being required for ground roles. How to apply: APPLICATION FORM If you are interested in joining, please apply using the above link, then join our Discord (feel free to use the @Recruitment Officer tag in the new-members-chat to ask any questions). Successful applicants will be invited for an introductory talk. Due to some roles being competitive, checkrides are given to select the appropriate candidates, these steps will be laid out by your Recruitment Officer. It is a good idea to be familiar with the module that you are applying for (i.e. ability to air to air refuel and understand basic combat systems), as these will be assessed. Due to the nature of our training and operations seasons, you should be confident that at least the first 6 months will generally be free for you to attend (holidays, annual leave etc. of course are absolutely fine). Ideally, candidates who will have a predictable schedule for the next year are preferred. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the training season, DCAF Recruitment Team https://discord.com/invite/F94F4FUsXG https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328191/ All missions take place in various regions of the Caucasus map. A series of quick missions (Most take 3-10 minutes though 'Advanced' and 'Expert' missions may take longer), designed to help Viper pilots practice their systems workflow, refine their key binds and HOTAS controls, axis curves, and employment proficiency with a variety of both air-to-air and air-to-ground weapon systems, Air-to-Air refueling, as well as some more advanced scenario based training, that will test your flying abilities while expanding your Viper skills. These are designed to be quick and hassle-free ways to practice selecting the weapon systems, picking your modes, options, ripple patterns, etc. in order to ingrain good muscle memory and habits so it becomes second nature when flying real missions. If a mission has a live threat present, it will always be noted in the mission briefing. Missions are broken down into 5 categories for easy navigation: - 'Fun' - Just that. Fun scenarios, doing silly things, to just enjoy flying the Viper. No stress. No threats. - '.Basic': Essential skills for new pilots. Landing, formation flying, spotting, etc. - 'Weapons' - Threat free environments to practice weapons employment. The bedrock that this mission pack is built on. - 'Advanced' - Scenario-based training. Live threats may be present. Read all mission briefs in full. - 'Expert': - High level scenario-based missions. May contain multiple types of live threats and/or difficult flying conditions. Limited use of F10 and labels. Read mission briefs thoroughly. These are not tutorials. I include some helpful tips here and there, but there are no step by step directions telling you how to select and employ the systems required. These are practice missions. A basic understanding of the jet is required. (Though they could be useful if you're following along with Tutorial videos or checklists.) There is a briefing accompanying each mission letting you know your airspeed, altitude, situation and overall objective. The F10 map, Labels and Active Pause are available in all missions, except for Expert level scenarios. NOTE: If you have any version older than v.3.2 it is strongly recommended that you delete all old missions and download the latest version. Numerous missions will not function properly due to patch updates. ** MOST RECENT UPDATE **: v3.6 - July 29th, 2025 *Changelog:* THE SNIPER POD IS HERE - All missions where the Targeting Pod is relevant (About half the mission pack) Have had additional client aircraft added with the ATP equipped on the jet. All aircraft are labeled with either 'LITENING' or 'SNIPER' tags, but if I missed one, just remember, if it doesn't say 'Sniper', it has the old pod. Other Changes: - 'Air to Air Guns' has been moved to Advanced from Basic. This was one of the earliest missions I made and it is absolutely not a true beginner test of skill. - A new mission: 'Weapons - Aerial Gunnery Basics' has been added with unresponsive, unmoving F4 Phantom drones for a truly basic AA guns practice mission. - A LITENING & SNIPER pod client has been added to the 'Fight the Phoenix' mission, for those of you who want to practice your BVR target ID skills. - Targeting pod client aircraft have been added to the 'Weapons - AG Guns & Unguided Rockets' mission. Includes the following Categories & Missions: Fun: - Airshow Demonstration - Marianas Tanker Shoot - Carrier Landings Weapon systems: - AIM-9M Sidewinder - AIM-9X Sidewinder High Off Bore shots - AIM-120C RWS Mode - AIM-120C TWS Mode - CBU-87 - CBU-97 - CBU-103 - CBU-105 - GBU 10 & 12 (Single mission for both.) - GBU 24 - HARM - HARM with Datalink - IR Mavericks - TV Mavericks - JDAM - JSOW - Mk 82 & Mk 84 unguided bombs (single mission for both) - Mk 82 Snakeyes - Air to ground guns & Unguided rockets (single mission for both) - Air to Air Guns - Maverick Boresight Practice Basic Skills: - Air to Air Refueling - Cold Start & Takeoff - Cold Start & Takeoff at Night - Air to Air Refueling (Easy comms, no external tanks) - Visual landing: low light & fog - Visual landing: clear night - Visual landing: clear day - Visual landing: rain and light wind - Instrument Landing System (ILS) Practice - Ground Moving Target radar - SEA Mode - Beginner Formation Flying - Spotting Practice: Air to Air - Mark Points/GMT Radar Employment - TNDL Datalink Advanced Skills: (All BFM Scenarios have a randomly selected enemy jet with a random skill level.)- Air to Air Refueling (No easy comms/Tacan required, external tanks) - Air to Air Refueling - Night (Easy comms, labels on) - BFM - Neutral - Fox 2s. - BFM - Neutral - Guns Only. - BFM - Defensive - Fox 2s. - BFM - Defensive - Guns Only. - BFM - Defensive - 2v1 Guns Only. - BFM - Defensive - 2v1 Fox 2s. - BFM - Offensive - 2v1 Guns Only. - BFM - Offensive - 2v1 Fox 2s. - BVR with AWACS - BVR without AWACS - DTOS Mode w/ CBUs (No Threats) - DTOS Mode w/ CBUs (AAA & Manpads present) - CCRP Low level toss bombing attack - Bad weather low altitude Maverick employment - Low level CCRP Strike w/ high-drag bombs (Mk. 84 or Snakeyes; your choice) - Wild Weasel: SA-2 - Wild Weasel: SA-10 - Wild Weasel: SA-3 - Wild Weasel: SA-6 - Wild Weasel: SA-11 - Wild Weasel: SA-8 - Wild Weasel: SA-15 - Wild Weasel: SA-5 - Wild Weasel: AAA & MANPADS - Sustained Formation Flight - Sustained Night Formation Flight - Flameout Landing Approach - Fight the Phoenix - Air to Air Guns on Maneuvering Targets Expert Level Scenarios: - 'Two Dogs' Refuel - 500lbs of fuel remain. Get your head on a swivel. - (2 Player Possible)Go for the Head - Take out critical communication bunkers before enemy CAP arrives. - (2 Player Possible)Gecko Hunt - This mission has received a massive overhaul (as of 7/9/23) in order to increase replayability and now has five possible scenarios that go off a random trigger at mission start, all still involving hunting moving SA8s. Some scenarios involve MANPADS and enemy helicopter threats. Now has three available client aircraft armed with either IR Mavs, TV Mavs, or GBU-12s. - (2 Player Possible)On The Run - Search and Destroy on enemy HVT fleeing via speedboat. (Tanking required) - Fox 3 & Fox 1 Unknown Adversary - Fox 2 Unknown Adversary - Air to Air Refueling - Blackout - Dusk & Night Wild Weasel - ILS Landing Approach - Dense Fog (Huge thank you to Mulder76 for creating this one!) If I take off, fly my mission, and land, when i shut the plane down, do i have to do a norm alignment before i shut it down in order to use std hdg when i start up, or do i not have to do that?
-
Can someone please explain to me how SPI, "Sighting Points" (OSB 10), and Cursor Zero work in the viper. I understand how SPI works in the a10, it is very logical and just makes sense to me, but i dont get it in the viper.

The F-16C Combat Fundamentals Guide rovides the necessary procedures to efficiently and effectively learn the necessary skills to be successful in effectively using the DCS F-16C Viper airframe. The DCS F-16C Flight Manual and the DCS F-16C Chucks Guide both provide detailed information on aircraft systems and systems operation. The Flight Manual and this publication complement each other. The accompanying Checklist is designed to work in conjunction with the above manual and contains: Normal Operations Checklist Combat Operations Checklist QRG for CMDS, Formations, Brevity Codes Creating these manuals and guides are a labor of love and passion, but it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes a lot of time, patience and research and support from many people around me. If you enjoy these manuals and they help you, they’ve accomplished exactly what they are designed to do. Introduction SharkPlanner has started a MOD for entry of waypoints into ABRIS and PVI-800 of DCS Ka-50 attack helicopter. The mod enables entry of: waypoints into ABRIS/PVI-800/NADIR fix points (used for INU/INS corrections) target points (used for autopilot ingress, SHKVAL slewing and DL operations) review of elevation profile along route Meanwhile SharkPlanner supports additional modules... FAQ How does it work? SharkPlanner runs as a LUA script hook and is able to utilize DCS's native UI in order to deliver minimalistic UI without requiring external application. Does it break integrity check? No, SharkPlanner is not deployed in your game installation folder. Do I need binary/exe? No, SharkPlanner runs within the DCS, and as such does not require external tools to run. Which DCS versions are supported? Minimal requirement is 2.8 either stable or openbeta. Which airframes are supported? BlackShark 3: Ka-50 version 2022 BlackShark 3: Ka-50 version 2011 BlackShark 2: Ka-50 Combined Arms (only information gathering) Gazelle: SA-342L Gazelle: SA-342M Gazelle: SA-342Minigun F-16C JF-17 Thunder How do I report bugs? Open the issues, read existing open issues to quickly figure out if your issue is already reported, and if you find none create new issue. Please try to be precise and provide the steps for reproduction and if needed: screenshots if available links to video if available mission file if available (needs to be renamed into zip, I recommend my_mission.miz.zip) dcs.log, located at %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs or %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Logs If you do not have github account you can post error report here and I will create the issue on github page. Installation instructions Download the latest release. The needed package is named like this: SharkPlanner-VERSION.zip Unpack the content of the zip file into %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts or %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts depending on version of the DCS you are using. Start or restart DCS Usage instructions Start DCS Hop into your Black Shark Switch to F10 mode Hit: CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE You should see a crosshair in the middle of screen. Above crosshair the following buttons are located: Hide, Add, Reset, Transfer as well as label showing current and maximal number of waypoints. Use your mouse to zoom and pan to your point of interest, and use Add button to select your waypoints. Once you add at least one waypoint, you can click on Transfer button and SharkPlanner will start entering waypoints/fixpoints/targetpoints into ABRIS and PVI-800. It is recommended to do this on ground for maximal accuracy. If you would like to create a new route, hit Reset and go to step 5. To hide SharkPlanner hit again: CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE Removal instructions To remove SharkPlanner: Delete file %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\Hooks\SharkPlanner.lua or %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\Hooks\SharkPlanner.lua depending on version of the DCS you are using. Delete folder %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SharkPlanner or %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\SharkPlanner depending on version of the DCS you are using. Restart DCS if it was running Kudos TheWay is a very cool project which enables entry of waypoints for a rather large number of DCS airframes. My initial motivation was to provide the ABRIS support as code contribution to TheWay, but ABRIS proved to be very challanging to implement within existing framework since coordinates entry can be done only non-numerically through dials. This limitation has resulted in large changes that could not be easily harmonized and tested with existing code base. Please note that TheWay remains to be the most comprehensive software for waypoint entry in DCS and is highly recommended to use for all other supported aircrafts. You can use both SharkPlanner and TheWay as long as you remember not to invoke transfer of waypoints at the same time! DCS Scratchpad provided the idea how to inject the UI and trigger it with a keyboard shortcut.

Hello guys Thank you for the great patch however I noticed something I'm not sure if its a bug or its me doing something wrong but when locking a SAM on HAD page while having MAV in PRE mode the WPN page delivery mode will switch to HTS mode however it does not slave to the target location and no TMS functions as WPN page being SOI are functional Viper HTS test.trk

Hey there, I'm writing this post, as I thought some newer users may appreciate it, or a sort of PSA if you will. The learning curve involved with DCS, as well as learning your aircraft of choice is a massive task to undertake. As much as it is inspiring to watch a DCS YouTuber effortlessly dogfight your favourite plane or dodging SAMs, it is also quite daunting learning how to get to that same point of skill. Perhaps you've found yourself mixing your training between haphazardly referring to the manuals, scouring forums, and YouTube videos. You're getting to the point in which you've played most of the instant action scenarios and some of the free missions, and feel like you need to take it further; and the option of multiplayer seems more attractive. However, unlike dogfighting against computers, you're operating alongside(or perhaps against) humans, which can feel like a quantum shift. You may be considering online squadrons, but nervous about your skill level in relation to theirs. Believe me when I say this, the vast majority of squadrons love to have more people share in their hobby, and take great pride in training people up. The great advantage of multiplayer, and by extension online squadrons, is the added value of learning, community, and most importantly immersion. When I first considered multiplayer, I was quite apprehensive, but once I joined I never looked back, and my flight simulation hobby is vastly enriched because of it. Learning: This can be a sticking point for newer people, since they feel that they aren't adequately experienced, or not good enough for an online group. This may be counter-intuitive, but in some scenarios, being less knowledgeable and joining a squadron to learn can be better. Ultimately while you're in single player, you don't know what you don't know, whereas when you train with other people, they can immediately identify what you need to learn, or what's not going right. Most DCS modules are extremely complex, and frankly the learning process for all of us never ends; we're all just at different points in that journey. As a newer user, you will massively benefit yourself to join a squadron as they can tailor your training requirements. Additionally, many instructors enjoy teaching, and it further enriches their hobby. The core note here is that you won't be burdening anyone from whatever experience level you're starting from, and most instructors love to teach anyway. Community: This may seem marginally obvious, but actually having people to share in your hobby is great. Flight simulation, let alone the DCS community is quite niche, it's not like you can easily have fellow hobbyists down the road. Instead communities are globalised over the internet as we're all spread few and far in between. Thanks to platforms like Discord, the value of community within a flying group is far greater in which you can jump in and talk to your fellow squadron mates seamlessly. Since I've been part of DCAF, I have made some great friends, and I enjoy being able to share my hobby with likeminded people. Immersion: At the end of the day, the value of flying with other humans rather than AI can't be understated. Whether flying with a human RIO or operating as a flight(or both!), the immersion offered is unparalleled. I'm still always impressed when I'm part of a flight of four in parade formation, as we all collectively work together. Or when you all go into a mission, splash some bandits and return to the carrier, the sense of achievement at the end of it is exceptional, because you all had to work together and thoroughly plan what you were going to do, and reaped the rewards of it. I often find going back to single player scenarios feel rigid and too 'sterile' now, since the only human component is yourself. Like what I was saying over learning and community, flying as part of a group fundamentally enriches the hobby. If you're still unsure, feel free to contact myself either here (or Discord), as well as some newer members who fly with me. This can be a good opportunity to scope out what it's like to join a flying group. We're all part of DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force): Me: Panny#2973 Vak(halfway through training on the F-14): Aisxos#8894 Deivid(also in training on the F-14): Deivid#3419 Brody(recently finished training and is a line pilot): brodyzach#1944 You can also visit our Discord should you wish: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M Otherwise, if you're interested in my group, I fly with DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force) as an F-14 instructor, and would love to help more guys out. We also have F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18C Hornet and AV-8B squadrons, who will be delighted to take on more people. You can read about us here: And here: https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home Or jump onto our Discord!: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M I hope for those entering on their journey with DCS, this post can at least alleviate a few concerns about the online paradigm. Cheers, Peter

Hi. On the mission night life the ins alignment is interrupted by other jets taking of on the runway while the viper is parked on the parking lot. The jet is actually moved a little as well. This seems excessive. I have experienced this on other missions in multi-player as well. According to other players the wheel chucks don't help preventing this, but I haven't tested it.

Hi all, first post here on the DCS forums but have been at DCS for a while with the Hornet, Harrier and Viper, I'd like to share one of my creations! Should bring some nostalgia to some of you!

Hi all, Did ED ever considered persistent wear and tear of the airframes? accumulating flying hours and hard landings, some systems get degraded sometimes, fuel leaks (reflected sometimes in the liverie/dirt... but i don´t see that possible), etc. Thank you, Best regards, Fagulha.

Is there any page or instruction covering the current damage model of the f-16? I am not sure if it's done properly or just you-get-hit-you-go-boom at the early access stage? Best,

Hi all, apologies if this has already been discussed. I happened across a YouTube video by @Growling Sidewinder yesterday who was demonstrating and discussing the F16's rate turn performance when compared to the F18 and F14. The general conclusion of the video is that the F16 is underperforming in a 2 circle rate fight when compared to the F14 and F18 (or obviously the later 2 aircraft are overperforming) I can see how the F18 and F14 could/should outperform the Viper in terms of radius turns but not in a rate turn. Has anyone carried out a controlled test using something like Tacview? GS's video is here:

Hi, In my humble sugestion our Viper needs a little weight on the tyres like the Hornet for example. Actually the Viper looks it is "floating" and not in the ground with weight on wheels. Thank you in advance, F.

After years of making liveries for my own use and for my private group of buddies, I finally made one with the intention of public release and is now available for DL! USAF Thunderbird F-16D. Includes both #7 and #8 jets with pilot/crew names from the 2021 Show Season to match the fantastic Thunderbird Livery pack by Razor97. I tried to match the colors to his as well for seamless integration into the NTTR. available here

SW 2.7.18.30765 TMS right in TWS to set all track targets as system targets (as expected). Cursor then nicely snaps to the targets and moves with them. null In EXP view, moving the cursor over the same target (now at 13,000 ft and in the centre of the screenshot below) the cursor snaps to the position of the target in the NORM view (upper left quadrant as shown in pic 2). This results in the cursor not tracking the target in the EXP view like it does when snapping to a target in the NORM view. null

So, I've been flying the Viper for a couple months and enjoy it like crazy, but I'm having issues with fine control inputs in situations like strafing runs, AA Refueling and on landings, especially in bad weather, and find myself overcorrecting. Aside from the obvious answer of getting more stick time and stop having gorilla hands, I was hoping to get some insight from other folks who might have the same equipment as me. Currently using the stock 'medium' springs that come installed in the stick, and haven't changed my dead zones or axis at all from default within the DCS controls themselves. Is there anything non-skill based I could manipulate with my equipment and/or settings that might help? Thank you!

As the title says, I wonder if we are going to get Sniper XR TGP for the Viper. As far as I know it's been planned but lately on some FB group I read that it's been removed from the roadmap. Irl f-16s block 50 started getting their Sniper pods in 2007 and ED says that that's exactly the era that they're aiming for with this module. Does anybody have any info on this matter or is it still a mystery?
