  1. Dear all, unfortunately the commit deadlines for this patch were moved up by a week with practically no warning, which unfortunately made it impossible for us to deliver a patch for November. The December patch however will cover outstanding fixes and also new additions. In the meantime we would like to kindly ask you for your feedback nonetheless. Please be so kind those of you who experienced it, and check if the Multicrew CTD and Radio Issues remain, both of which were DCS issues and ED attempted to fix internally. Our apologies for a bit longer wait till the next real Tomcat patch this time around. Thank you for your very kind understanding. EDIT: The F18AI TALD fix broke some tasking logic, so for anyone trying to fly Op Reforger Mission 5, here is a fix attached, simply download and drop into your mods/aircraft/f14/missions/campaigns/op reforger folder and overwrite the existing missions. 2. They done that before (tank and helo dust etc) and credited already so I'm actually glad that they're including it so it passes IC.

  3. Looks like they implemented my values so this portion of the mod probably isn't needed anymore. But I'll keep it to gives option for anyone who wants to edit it to make it longer. Left is new default and right is Better Smoke. And number right of my name was the old default value. null

  4. I assume the same, but I hope it's the subesquent delivery of the third-party fixes that couldn't make the deadline for yesterday's patch (that apparently was moved ahead on short notice).

  7. I really hate posting topic like this but in the latest OB 2.8.32937 a showstopping AI bug made it into the update. The AI sometimes won’t stop following you or another AI, even though it was told to. this affects all missions, not just mine. Some of my missions will be completely broken, some will just have some weird glitches, but I really recommend playing my (and other) campaigns in the stable version until this one is fixed. All I can do is push ED to fix it ASAP. Sorry guys and gals. Here's a detailed explanation. When the AI does a task, it does it until there is a dedicated flag that comes on that's supposed to stop the task. Say, it needs to follow the tanker, until flag 'chewbacca' comes on. 1 second after flag 'chewbacca' I can push the AI's next task - follow the player, or switch to WP3, or whatever. In Single Thread I could even push the next task at the same time as the stop flag and it was smooth. Then came the Multithread version. Its code is set up in a way that things don't happen linearly. I push flag 'chewbacca' but the game may or may not register it immediately, maybe 1 maybe 2 seconds later only, depending on how busy your CPU is at the moment. Problem is, 1 second later I push the next task, and from then on the AI will stop looking for the stop flag of following the tanker, because it's not its primary task anymore. Therefore it will never stop following the tanker even when a few seconds later it realizes that flag 'chewbacca' came on. Catch 22, the AI is stuck following the tanker forever, the mission is broken. I could add 2,3,5,10 seconds between the flag and the new task, but a) sometimes it's not enough and b) in that time the AI is uncontrolled, and it just leads to collisions and more problems. Even 1 seconds is too much from a smoothness point of view. So what can you do about it? - Play the mission in ST while you can - Decrease your gfx setting. The less busy your CPU is, the less likely you'll see this bug. - Record a track and send to ED

  8. Hi, just a note of appreciation to Razbam for today's update ... particularly the addition of more airfields: and also the improved night lighting: Great map, I'm loving flying on it

  10. ..please stay on topic. My test results for the latest OB DCS 2.8.0.32937 Open Beta vs. DCS 2.7.18.30765 Open Beta is still a loss of 2 ms GPU frame time with the same setting with ALL shadows set to OFF on the "low" preset. A quick test with the recommended procedures which are mentioned in the " alt+enter / fullscreen" thread, which was linked above , did not help. Will try again tonight.

  11. I wrote some software that might help you: https://github.com/bobmoretti/dcs-tetrad It will create a console and displays various statistics every 5 seconds. It also saves a compressed CSV file with frame rate and object/ballistics counts for every frame. You can also enable a GUI that makes a running plot of this information over time (don't recommend running this on a server without a GPU). Please ping me if you have any questions.

  14. The joke in the 1960s was that if the USAF built a runway so long it went all the way around the world, Northrop would make a plane that needed it. Central design philosopy, which comes from the situation. Huge open spaces in the US, no history of territorial threat - huge runways, weak brakes. Back when the UK had an independent aircraft industry - the Harrier. A tiny, crammed island with a history of devastating air raids begets a dispersible aircraft system that can operate from a farmer's field. Sweden - the Gripen, and its dispersible operations, simple maintenance, reinforced roads for takeoff and landing. The US Marines requirements intersect with the more European restrictions and threats - so they got the Harrier and now the F-35B.

  15. Addendum to this, original tracks no longer work in the newest OB version as the 120 seeker behaviour seems to have changed. The missile no longer loses track initially in the above tracks so there is obviously no reaqcuisition to snap off of. Thankfully, I've managed to reproduce the snapping off of INS in the newest OB version. 120_t2.trk 120_t3.acmi 120_t1.acmi 120_t2.acmi 120_t1.trk 120_t3.trk

  16. Hi sirrah.......If I may, let me clear up any misconceptions and or misinformation regarding this trigger action within the mission editor. 1. Currently “STATIC ACTIVATE” has zero functionality and therefore has no impact within mission builds. 2. Following the recent poll, a request has been made to add functionality from the perspective “LATE ACTIVATING” a static object, for example a FARP. 3. At the same time a request to enable “DEACTIVATION” of statics has also been raised. 4. There are no time frames for its completion but it is in the development mix. An example of its use could be as follows: Bluefor has now advanced considerably beyond the original FEBA. A new FOB/FARP is now required to support the revised front line. To accommodate this you could potentially spawn in new FARPS and cargos based upon ME triggers. The ability to destroy static objects and have further triggers activated, based upon that destruction, is always available as per my simple example .miz file attached. Because there is no functionality to “STATIC ACTIVATE” it is not required as a trigger. I hope this helps. Cheers. StaticDestroyed.miz

  18. I'd like to help. Can you please provide a simple way to account for ballistic objects kept in memory? I mean by that a MIZ file with some scripting magic and a logger saying "15 ballistic objects in memory, 16 ballistic objects in memory, 32 ballistic...".

  22. The notch is a thing and should be modeled. The DCS notch is overly wide, and should be corrected, along with representation of radar and missile track recovery functionality. And the notch should only apply when the defender is challenging the correct emitter/antenna pair at the correct time- pre-active, the launching airframe, post-active, the missile. It's difficult to get into effectively, and even harder to stay. Entry should not be an instantaneous break lock, because track files and recovery methodologies exist for a reason. Flat out notching a launching opponent should require substantial seconds spent running the 90, rather than passing through as part of a turn away, because it's going to take time for the attacking radar to run out of track recovery time.

  23. Not that Heatblur doesn't have a ton on their plate already, but how cool would it be if they added the Spruance/Kidd classes as AI escorts for the Forrestal's once they are finished with all four carriers. Right now, we really don't have AI destroyers that are time period appropriate for them in the game. We have OHP's as frigates, but the block II Burkes didn't start coming into the fleet until the late 90's and the Forrestal's were already decommissioned or about to be decommissioned in the case of USS Independence.

  24. Thanks guys @flanker1 unfortunately, these 2 and the UAZ-452 I've released earlier are the only russian vehicles I got ------------------------------ A couple of Somali'ish trawlers for the ship pack The update is almost ready to ship (uhuh), just some cleaning up to do here and there, update the readme and that's it! For the last hour I tried to have multiple spawn point for the mobile sea base but I'm just a donkey when it comes to code and I just can't make it work. So screw it, you'll spawn on the helipad like a civilised pilot.

  26. I spend nearly 90% of my time in the sim in training missions and in that specific scenario the F16 is very much unfinished, or dare I say practically not operational with incorrect Master SIM functionality and missing inert weapons. Nearly all of the training/SIM features are missing from our F16 currently. I'll try to collect all the info necessary for ED to make changes in this thread (please add any documentation you have in the thread) CATM-9M Current implementation: Even though the missile appears in SMS INV as TA9LM when entering A-A mode or DGFT mode no seeker diamond appears on the HUD, no growl can be heard and the DGFT mode defaults to the gun with no option to select the missile. Desired behavior: Same operation as the 9M up until pickle where the jet should treat the missile like it's in SIM mode (no launch). Seeker should remain active after pickle. CATM-120-B/C Current Implementation: N\A Desired behavior: It should fully simulate an AMRAAM with a rocket in it's ass. Provided on the HUD should be the M/F pole, DLZ, and all the other symbology that should appear in MSL/A-A mode, as well as proper after launch symbology. PGM-65 Current Implementation: N\A Desired behavior: It should provide us with a view from the seeker on the WPN page, all up until launch when the seeker should unlock from the locked target but should keep providing the picture, as well as proper time to impact. I will add documentation to support this in the coming days, and any contribution by other forum members is appreciated. PS. Please don't tag this correct-as-is, because it's not. Thank you

  27. L159 ALCA is Advanced Light Combat Aircraf. It was made by Aero vodochody that also made the L39 wich is DCS.The Aero L-159 ALCA is a Czech single-seat single-engine multipurpose light combat subsonic aircraft. The two-seat variants L-159T1 and L-159B are primarily intended for pilot training and fitness flying, and can secondarily act as multi-purpose light combat aircraft.I think it is good idea to add this because we have only L39 wich is old it dosent have modern HUD, DDI etc. From outside they are almost same but inside its completly diffrent. It has a basic A/A and A/G radar and can carry Mavericks, Paveways, Litening TGP, Sidewinders, AMRAAMs.It would be very good jet to start with in DCS.There is also an american version named F/A 259 that was given to america by czech republic. some videos and photos from inside of the L159

  33. With the new AI pilots in 2.8, although, *ahem* 'I can hold my own....' , I'm having to work a bit harder for my wins. I don't mind that, I enjoy a good challenge. But I would like to know what the skill level of the AI pilot is/was, to get a better idea of how much more I need to practice, so that I'm not such an easy target when I go multi-player. Is this something that could be implemented easily? Thank you all at ED for providing such an amazing way to relax and be entertained. Much appreciated!

Was heisst radikal?

  42. I bought my current Saitek Pro Flight pedals about 5 years ago 2nd hand for well under €100,- and they've never let me down. Sure, perhaps not the most beautiful, best accuracy or suitable for pilots that prefer to ram the pedals with high force, but they're relatively cheap and more than accurate enough (also for helo flying). In these kind of threads, people usually kindly advise to purchase new stuff. Although I understand that, I'm just saying that you can really save money by buying used gear. (of course you should be a bit more careful and trust the person from who you purchase, or pickup the item if it's not to far away) Maybe I'm lucky with my purchases in the past, but I've never been let down by any of the used products I've purchased. And to give you an indication of what I purchased 2nd hand: Rift cv1, HP Reverb G1, TM Warthog, TM F/A-18 grip, Saitek Pedals, Simshaker JetPad, G-27 steering wheel+pedals, (and I probably forget about a few more) But that's just my 2 cents

  43. As a suggestion for further improvement: It would be more immersive seeing just a tiny amount of stick movement due to user input, reflecting the fact that forces are applied to the stick. This would tremendously help in visually seeing that the hotas binding is correct and indicate to the pilot/user that something else is missing (hydraulic pressure) to go ahead.

  46. I noticed, when using the T-80 for some other tests, that there is a new reload sound for the T-80 (probably other T-series tanks as well). Sounds pretty nice. It matches perfectly the 8 second reload time, when using the "Main" storage of the tank. That said, the same 8 second sound plays when reloading from the secondary storage as well. Reloading from secondary storage takes 33 seconds. Sounds plays in the first 8 seconds and then it is silent. You are left with the impression that the round is loade d and you are just waiting 25 more seconds for nothing. ReloadSound.trk
