  1. Hello everybody, thanks for reporting, for your help and for your patience. We have a good news today, we have been able to identify the root cause of the issue! We are now working to isolate the bug and to make a proper fix. We cannot promise you a fix with the next update but we will do our best. Anyway we will keep you informed about the progresses. Have a great day! Inviato dal mio ASUS_I005D utilizzando Tapatalk

  2. Dear Gentlemen! First of all I want to thank you for your amazing job by Normandy 2. Man has to use 1 000 words to describe one Photo. Your job is then beyond any description. I felt like becoming whole new game. Thank you for that. Being a fan of WW2 planes and history, I couldn't help myself not to travel around Great Britain and then Normandy, all the coast lines... Amazing job. I still like to take a Jeep and just ride.... What a shame that there is no "de Havilland Tiger Moth" or "Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann" in DCS P-47 was way too fast to enjoy it properly. Around London however I discovered strange aberration. To be more precise "W" of London I found to my amusement.... Let's check one after another: A Heathrow airport or Great West Aerodrome?!? Lets start from the beginning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_West_Aerodrome "The Great West Aerodrome was not an active RAF airfield, but sometimes in World War II RAF fighters or bombers needing to land, landed there, and their crew sometimes found a bed for the night in Heathrow village. " So what about Heathrow ? According Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heathrow_Airport By the time the airfield was complete, World War II had ended, and the UK Government continued to develop the site as a civil airport. The airport was opened on 25 March 1946 as London Airport. The airport was renamed Heathrow Airport in the last week of September 1966, to avoid confusion with the other two airports in London, Gatwick and Stansted. ...To my bigger amusement I didn't found ... a Northolt Airfield. Soooo.... what about Northolt? Its location: Direction Length and surface 07/25 1,684 m (5,525 ft) Grooved asphalt Northolt in 1939 had a 800-by-50-yard (732 by 46 m) concrete runway. Wikipedia names Runways: - 07/25 concrete runway (currently) - 08/26 concrete runway 800-by-50-yard (732 by 46 m) was extended 1841-yard (1684m) in February 1943 to accommodate the larger transport aircraft required by the Command. - 02/20 (smaller) runway closed in April 1944. - 31/13 runway built March 1946 Site history Built 1915 In use 1915–present During WW2 A Homebase for daytime fighter operations of: During BoB RCAF No. 229 Squadron No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron No. 504 Squadron and part of No. 264 Squadron according to https://www.ukairfieldguide.net/airfields/Northolt Battle of Britain RAF Sector Station (10th July 1940 to 31st October 1940) 1 Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 18th June 1940 to 23rd July 1940, then 1st August to 9th September, and then again from the 16th August 1940 to 11th October 1940 Note: Later to become 401 RCAF Squadron. 43 Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 23 July 1940 to 1st August 1940 229 Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 9th September 1940 to 15th December 1940 257 Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 4th July 1940 to 15th August 1940 264 Sqdn (Boulton Paul Defiants) 29th August to 29th October 1940 302 (Poznan) Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 11th October 1940 to 23rd November 1940 303 {Kosciusko] Sqdn (Hawker Hurricanes) 22nd July 1940 to 11th October 1940 604 (RAuxAF) Sqdn (Bristol Blenheims) Later during Wartime: No. 302 Polish Fighter Squadron, No. 229 Squadron No. 615 Squadron No. 308 Polish Fighter Squadron No. 306 Polish Fighter Squadron No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron during 1941 to form the No. 1 Polish Fighter Wing. Also Homebase for Reconnaissance squadrons: No. 16 Squadron No. 140 Squadron No. 69 Squadron with their Vickers Wellingtons modified for photographic reconnaissance that arrived later. All three reconnaissance squadrons were combined to form No. 34 (PR) Wing. Polish Fighter Squadrons based at Northolt in 1942 took part in Operation Jubilee (the raid on Dieppe) on 19 August alongside Nos. 302 and 308 from nearby RAF Heston. (that's another mystery?) Reconnaissance squadrons No. 16 Squadron and No. 140 Squadron operating Supermarine Spitfires and de Havilland Mosquitos moved to Northolt in 1944. No. 69 Squadron with their Vickers Wellingtons modified for photographic reconnaissance arrived later. All three reconnaissance squadrons were combined to form No. 34 (PR) Wing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Northolt And it is not "Just another Airfield" Northolt was important: In 1943, the station became the first to fly sorties using Supermarine Spitfires (Mk IXs) in German airspace in support of bomber operations (it's kind that Wikipedia don't give the name of the squadron). On 25 March, RAF Ferry Command became RAF Transport Command and thereafter used Northolt as a London base for the transfer of new aircraft from factories to airfields. Runway 26/08 was extended in February that year to accommodate the larger transport aircraft required by the Command. Northolt continued as a Sector Fighter Station until February 1944. As a result of this and the new larger runway, the smaller 02/20 runway closed in April 1944. RAF Northolt became home to Prime Minister Winston Churchill's personal aircraft, a modified Douglas C-54 Skymaster, in June 1944. The aircraft was used to fly him to meetings with other Allied leaders. Between 20 and 21 July 1944, a converted Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber named "Marco Polo" made the first non-stop intercontinental flight, flying from London to Washington, DC, then returning to Northolt from La Guardia Airport within 18 hours. In November of the same year, an Avro York flew non-stop from Northolt to Cairo in 10 hours and 25 minutes. A new runway, 31/13, was surveyed the following month and built in March 1946 Im curious... What period of time actually recreates Ugra media map? W of London seem to be somewhere in 1946-47, except of Northolt which is apparently in 1914, and Normandy seem to be some in July 1944... Can you please explain it to me and other WW2 DCS Fans? RAF Northolt website today: https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-northolt/ Northolt during WW2 Northolt in 1939 RAF Northolt 1945 (source: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:RAF_Northolt_1945.png) Northolt in 1950's Northolt in 1954 And at the end I found that: Approach chart May 1951 Northolt With my best regards Green Ugly Fellow

  3. OK, final version this week (unless someone spots a big mistake in the next 2 hours). I'm going to take the weekend off but the to do list is small at the moment. I've not flown since I started this and any free time this weekend will be flying!!!! As I said before, I've not flown the F15 yet, so there may be lots of weirdness in the UFC or HUD data that I'm just not aware of sitting on the runway (I have gotten it airborne to check the HUD data but only straight & level with wheels up). -- version 0.7 -- Had a good neaten up of all the argument values - no IDs have changed on these and no formats (so if it was .2f before it is still .2f now but I do want to redo these before this gets finalised so if decimal places are not needed then they do not get exported) -- Implemented the first round of HUD data display. You can call a single element or get blocks of data: -- 0 - Combined Speed & Alt 6001 -- Speed - the speed as diaplyed in HUD 6002 -- AoA - value diaplyed in HUD 6003 -- Mach - as in HUD 6005 -- GMet - The G readout, which I guess is current G and Max G? 6006 -- HDG - This is the heading caret on teh tape 6007 -- Alt - The altitude as diaplyed in the HUD (BARO only I think) 6008 -- VVI - The VVI, with spaces removed 6009 -- AA - I think this data is the weapon selected in AA mode? No ID Set -- NAV - Every field from the bottom right 6010 -- UPLEFT - Speed and AoA from the left side 6011 -- LOLEFT - Fields from the bottom left, so G AA weapon, mach and G meter 6012 -- UPRIGHT - Alt and VVI from the right side 6013 -- LORIGHT - Nearly the same as NAV but without the bottom line (what does that set of numbers mean anyway?) 6014 -- Included a radio export as it's not easy to see the frequency when using presets. This draws data from the core sim to supplement the UFC info, separate items or a combined view available 6501 & 6504 -- To Do List: -- Fix any issues with HUD data (yes I'm pretty sure there will be some) and expand it if possible -- Check all argument values and convert to 1d or .1f where possible, only leaving .2f and .3f if actually needed -- Create option to turn field labels on/off maybe? 4. Back in the old days with a 5400 rpm HDD, I was able to launch the sim and then prepare dinner and feed it to my kids before the menu screen came up. It was excellent for sim/life balance. Then it got faster...wayyyy faster especially with M2 Nvme, until it was all I could do to microwave hot dogs and shove them at the kids before the menu was ready and I was called to action. Recently, I've noticed that load times are inexplicably increasing every time I launch the sim, even to the wait of 5400 rpm HDDs. Thank you so much. Today I double-clicked DCS, and then I made -- from scratch -- a Bolognese sauce with charred garlic cloves, served it, and did the dishes all before the sim was ready at the menu screen, perfectly right on time. Please make these loading times skyrocket, so I can get more things done.

  5. Image from DCS: Spitfire - Beware! Beware! Campaign by Reflected Simulations We are holding a B-17G Livery Contest in order to expand our livery offering with the DCS: WWII Asset Pack. Using the official template found here please submit your creation and we will choose the top ten liveries to be integrated into the DCS: WWII Asset Pack. Here are some of the requirements and details: The livery must be created using this template. The livery must be based on historical liveries in use for the B-17G in the timeline of 1943-45. The livery must be associated with one of the countries the B-17G was used in, USAAF, RAF, etc. If you do a specific livery with nose art and aircraft name, please also include a generic version with no nose art, aircraft name and bort numbers. (Why? This will give users more options in missions for both SP and MP) So each entry should have 2 versions. Here are instructions for saving textures with MIP levels using NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop. After submitting your file to User Files, please post here with a screenshot and link to your file from the ED user files. The contest will run until the 30th August 2023. The top five winners will receive a free copy of the DCS: World War II Assets Pack or a module of their choice. The top ten will have their liveries added to DCS. The top winner (first place based on voting) will also receive two additional modules of their choice. Good luck! (Choice of module must be modules by Eagle Dynamics and must be currently released; Module selection must be made 30 days from notification of winning)

  8. I put together some simple procedural kneeboards for the F-15E, placed in the User Files section. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331735/ As stated, these are not official procedures, just what I've put together as a quick reminder on how to employ various weapons on the F-15E (after not flying it for a while, or in this case, it's new). 9. For fans of piston aviation. Block of trimmers and additional levers. Three trim wheels, three steering axles. The steering angle of the wheel has a stroke of 700 degrees, which allows you to make almost a full turn of the wheel in each direction. Such a move ensures the planned and precise balancing of the aircraft in flight and especially on landing. Axes and levers are made on non-contact TLE magnetoresistives, which ensures high accuracy and reliability of the sensors. Price 130 Euro + delivery.

  12. I haven't focused on AEW&C yet, but you never know. I'm still missing the GlobalEye for my Swedish assets. I have answered this several times in this thread. I shall make a FAQ on my web and link to. The short answer is, no. I don't have either an official wishlist of roadmap. But I'm very open to suggestions, and a lot of the suggestions have become assets. The Buk M3 would be interesting to make. We'll see. Well, the Canadian Type 26 configuration would probably be the most interesting one to make. But aren't they planned to enter service in the 2030s? I guess it's the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) we're talking about here? I have some interest in it, especially since I already have the NSM and ship box launchers done.

  15. This can be attributed to a couple of things. You have to be in STT or TWS to get HAFU (Hostile, Ambiguous, Friendly, Unknown) symbology. If you're in TWS for stuff outside of visual range Jester is hitting the IFF interrogate button, reading returns off the DDD, and them correlating them with what he sees on the TID and manually selecting tracks and entering their HAFU. This is a process that takes a bit of time and if I had to guess he can get interrupted by other, higher priority tasks. The more stuff on the TID, the longer this will take. When you go STT, depending on the range he's either only got a single IFF return to sort/assign, or if you're within ~40 miles or so, he's probably switching to the TCS and visually IDing the contact (your cue he's doing this is your TID going blank for a second or two). A word of caution is Jester is known to get confused if you're flying a mission where there's heavy overlap in aircraft available to each coalition (think you stumble upon a fight where F-16s, F-15s and F-14s are fighting... F-16s, F-15s and F-14s). What situation are you in where that's happening. I'd need to go experiment to speak conclusively, but my general experience with jester is Jester Sees Missile + RWR Warning = Chaff Jester Sees Missile - RWR Warning = Flares He can make mistakes. Sometimes he doesn't see the missile. Sometimes there is some annoying behavior with the RWR in some certain edge cases that can mean jester sees a missile, but because the RWR isn't producing a launch warning he drops flares even if it's a radar guided missile. He's also more likely to make mistakes if it's a chaotic environment with RWR bleed over and lots of missiles going back and forth, but that's not unreasonable.

  16. These livery competitions are a great idea to add some more interesting content to the game. The Mosquito contest turned out some amazing stuff, most of which I added to my missions. I hope ED eventually does this for all the WW2 planes! !

  18. TMS right has currently no effect unless one does call up the SEAD DED page with TMS left before on a selected threat and keeps the page active. Only then target stepping with TMS right is possible. The moment you undesignate, the DED will return to CNI. TMS right then won't step targets anymore before or after designating a new threat. You are required to TMS left before. very short track demonstrates this HAD_notargetstep.trk

  19. More simple aircraft, not simplified (i.e. FC3) modules. Think 'A' models of current aircraft - A-10A, F-16A, AH-64A, which would make great 'lite' versions of the current offerings, which new players may find intimidating. I know from a commercial perspective these would not make sense, and apart from a few more niche users, the majority will always chose the newer, more capable models, but I think they would be a great stepping stone for new players, and a greater challenge for those with more experience (manual bombing, rear-aspect missiles etc.). In terms of new modules though, F-117, F-111, Buccaneer and Jaguar would top my list. I would really like to see the whole EW and ASW elements expanded in time.

  20. Compared to the Viper it's a dream. Also, isn't the NWS ALWAYS on? The NWS button is for High Gain. Or is there a way to turn it off completely? If so, I've never used it. But anyway, I find that the Viper is a bit easier to get to the surface gently but the Strike Eagle is much easier to get to a stop, in a straight line, once I've touched the pavement.

  26. I talked with ED crew about this issue today. Chances are the Long Range Laser Light is not supposed to be visible in broad daylight, since it is a laser. I wanted to be sure about this one, so I checked several daylight landing footage and I just couldn't see the LRLS spot, not even once. If anyone can find some footage showing LRLS working in broad daylight, this is the right time to post it here. In the absence of such proof, consider MT to be correct as is (light visible at night, invisible in daylight) and ST in need of a fix.

  29. There's always something amiss with DCS. Be it stutter, login problems, artifacts, flickering graphics, missing bomb precicion etc.. or crazy bad load/startup times. This one error is one of the worst and I don't even consider starting DCS based on an impulse, for example to learn air to air in my newly purchased F-15. Because it takes forever to start. I've been near ditching the entire concept due to time wasted many times already. But I have put to much "terms and conditions of EULA" money in it. Plus hardware. I've been told to "please be patient" to many times. So I have to appeal to ED; Please be vigilant, and try to consider customers point of view, and fix or give info. I have no clue; will this take weeks, months, or, as in some occations, years? Are you even on it? "Reported" This is the most frustrating concept I've ever encountered, although it is my favourite one too. My time off from work is precious. I want to dedicate some of it to DCS, according to what I paid for. I bought a dedicated PC for this concept only, with the spec to handle it. But atm: No joy. In all fairness: Theres been weeks on end where I've enjoyed the work you put in to such measure, I've actually exclaimed sounds of joy. My girl say she heard me sing.

  31. I ran into the same problem earlier this week. In my case it was the F-14, the F-15C (not FC3, the "standalone"), Nevada and Persian Gulf. Turned out these are modules that I had bought via Steam and "transferred" over to DCS standalone. Presumably, the Steam server must have had a hiccup. I fixed the issue by reimporting the serial numbers via my profile on the DCS website. Hope that helps.

The AIRIO extension provides dynamic on-screen feedback using the hint functions and kneeboards are available to familiarize with the keywords while learning to use. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3871629&postcount=2203..." He subsequently made some reference to the wheel possibly coming back at some point, so maybe there is a way...

  35. Disclaimer – this post is an observation/question and not a complaint. Concerning Strike Eagle Callsigns, the enlarged list of aircraft Callsigns appears to have been applied to the AI regular version of the F-15E; however, it might have been meant for the flyable S4+ module. Question for the Developers - Will the expanded list of aircraft callsigns currently available to the AI module be applied to the flyable module?

  42. I do know what it does and exactly how it works, I created the MCB valve code and the CB to disable it. It functions exactly as described in the manual, refer to the manual if you'd like to understand the scenarios under which it's active. There's just no cockpit indication to know if MCB is active and I'm not planning to spend any more time on it. That's it. It was added to indulge people that wanted it, and now it's turned into a "give a mouse a cookie" situation. Pulling the CB was never a feature we planned to implement, I just did it because people requested it. If people keep asking more questions about it I'm more inclined to comment the CB pulling code and just move on. Everyone can simply appreciate the fact the CB pull exists in the first place, the current feature is as far as I'm willing to take it.

This PEKA-18D fuel is, just like Flexadyne, CTPB based composite and it is with specific impulse (in ideal theoretical conditions) of 247s but at pressure ratio 40:1. All right, let’s see what would be for PEKA-18D at 68:1 … Isp=Isp (40:1) + 190,3 + 76*pk - 3,058*pk^2 - 7000*pa + 25484*pa^2 = 247*9,81 + 190,3 + 76*6,8 - 3,058*6,8^2 - 7000*0,1 + 25484*0,1^2 = 2545 Ns/kg = 259s This seems correct, transparent and true because physical laws are same on east and west. For sure something stinks with those numbers given to Phoenix if read literally or we read it completely wrong.

  44. Huh? They are the ones who made that option available in the first place, so if they don't know how to best set it up, who will?

  45. Yes, we were also partners with VEAO, and we took our lumps with that, as we are partners with each and every 3rd Party we sign a contract with in order to help them bring their vision and piece of DCS World to life. I suppose calling me by my old name is some form of frustration or attempt at insult, if that helps you work through this then I am here to take the lumps. The fact remains that Ilya was the lead on that project, the direction was his to make. He made some poor calls on things like offering the terrain editor to people, etc. This is all water under the bridge, we are trying to move forward and we tried to make the most of the Kickstarter that we could. The 262 is the only aircraft that hasn't made it. We are getting things more interesting in the grand scheme. When Igor passed management of ED also shifted, Nick is a big fan of WWII and has many many experiences with aircraft from that era, right as far as flying them. I trust his vision and decision on what we will see in DCS. Yeah, he loves the Hellcat, I am going to predict most DCS users, even those that never gave it much thought, will also love it one day. I won't talk again about the 262, I have said it enough times. I can't keep going in circles about this so I guess this is at a point where this thread needs to be closed until there is something new about the 262. I even talked to Nick about the 262 on our trip, and the thoughts I shared of the same. A G6, a Zero, a P-38.... I could go on about all the aircraft done at DCS level I want to see. The 262 is on hold, this is the news we have right now. You are welcome to continue this in DMs with me, I can pass messages on to management but this is where it is at right now. I am sorry as I know this upsets some of you. Thanks NineLine/Norm (Artist formerly known as SiThSpAwN) Associate Producer Community Manager
