EUROPEAN BASED - CJTF-13 - JOINT TASK FORCE (Fighter jets , Helicopters & Air Traffic Control) The CJTF-13 Battalion is aiming for the most realistic and immersive virtual experience in TAW DCS. We follow real life procedures as closely as possible, we use strict radio communications and train HARD to get to this high level of virtual flying! This type of flight simming is not for everyone, because it requires a certain type of mindset, fierce dedication and motivation to do it right. If you are looking for relatively short, action packed missions which can be played without much in-depth planning and preparation, then the CJTF-13 is NOT the right place for you. If you are looking for very realistic, in-depth planned events, where flying to the ‘AO’ means you may have to rely on Air to Air refuel to be able to make it there and back home, following the correct waypoints/altitudes/speeds to be ‘on station’ at the predetermined time (ToT), where the other Squadrons are a key part of the success of the mission at hand, then the CJTF-13 is THE PLACE TO BE!!! We create MDC’s (Mission Data Cards) where all important information is stated, then we import this into DCS so every pilot has the info in his Kneeboard Map while performing the missions. Maps we use: Persian Gulf , Syria , Caucasus , Marianas (Maybe other maps in the future) We focus on both LAND and NAVAL OPERATIONS in every mission, we only use full fidelity modules which are currently the F-16C, F/A-18C, F-15E and Helicopters. Note* our current active squadrons are as follows: F-16 (RNLAF 313) F-15E (494th FS) F/A-18 (VMFA 212) AH-64 (13th CAB) OH-58D (13th CAB) Air Traffic Control (8 Squadron) F-4 (526th vTFS) F-4 Recruitment thread: Helicopter squadron recruitment thread: Any upcoming modern full fidelity module may be incorporated as well. We are also open to recruit Air Traffic controllers. We are all very happy and willing to help you get the best and most out of your module of choice, but you are required to train on certain topics where you lack some experience by yourself, without us having to try and motivate you to do just that. This is the type of pilot we are looking for: A motivated and dedicated person who WANTS to be great in all things needed to perform realistic combat sorties, as perfectly as possible in a well oiled teamplay war machine. You need to bring the commitment and dedication to learning to excel in CJTF-13. This requires you to go out and look for ways to improve yourself, so when we actually fly missions together, we will all be at our BEST and only have to focus on the mission at hand and not on other things that may distract us from that. ################### The CJTF-13 hold its weekly Mandatory Event on SUNDAY’s @ 1945 CE(S)T (Summer Time 1745Z, Winter Time 1845Z). The CJTF-13 hold its weekly Training Sessions on THURSDAY’s @ 2030 CE(S)T (Summer Time 1830Z, Winter Time 1930Z). #################### The minimum requirements for joining the CJTF-13 are as follows: – Being PRO-ACTIVE, willing to read and learn documents and perfect your skills in your own time, outside of regular training events – Able to fly formation perfectly and able to execute Air to Air Refuel (AAR) in fair weather (for fixed wings) – In any helicopter, you need to be able to conduct a stationary hover pedal-turn to maneuver around tight forward bases. – Basic experience using Navigation, Combat Systems and Weapons – Experience with using SRS (Simple Radio) and Basic knowledge of ATC Communication – Able to execute a CASE 1 Recovery on a CARRIER; if choosing a NAVAL Aircraft - Able to execute an OVERHEAD BREAK and FAN BREAK together with proper AIRBASE procedures; if choosing a LAND BASED aircraft – Able to speak and understand proficient ENGLISH; Communication is key to success, we need to understand eachother – Using TrackIR or a similar system, or Virtual Reality – Owning the aircraft module of your choice and required maps. If you are interested in joining us please visit our website or join our discord and simply contact one of our recruitment officers (with CJTF Staff tag) Website: https://tawdcs.org/battalion/cjtf Discord: https://discord.com/invite/tawdcs If you had any questions , feel free to ask here or directly message me on discord: my ID tag is @catkovsky

BOLD CHEETAH (current version 2024-12-04) version - 2024-12-04 - Updated all missions with new fog/visibility settings - fixed mission 6 (when landing, F-18 blocked landing area) - added Supercarrier yo take advantage of deck crew version - 2024-08-18 - Updated Mission 9: The radio transmission logic in DCS has changed/broke FM radio communications. I've had to replace radio transmissions with "Sound To" triggers. There is a chance some audio may not play if two simultaneous transmissions occur. I've also changed the design of both versions as well. version - 2024-07-22 - Adjusted scripts to account for DCS changes to the scripting engine. - Added IMMORALITY option and Easier Adversary option. version - 2024-06-15 - Mission 9 - Tweaked Scripts version - 2024-06-14 - Mission 5 - adjusted condition to proceed after bunker hit. Mission 7 - Fixed broken refuel trigger. Mission 9 - adjusted MANPAD effectiveness. Version - 2024-06-02 - Fixed bug mission 2 where triggesr would not progress after target 1 hit. Version - 2024-05-20 - Adjusted JDAM and LGB to have US Navy skins, adjusted loadout mission 1. Version - 2.9.A001a - Updated Oct. 26, 2023 - Mission 04 - Fixed Briefing - Mission 12 - Fixed trigger so certain aircraft are not invulnerable. Version - 2.9.A001 - UPDATED OCTOBER 19, 2023 - Unlimited Fuel for AI Wingmen, Scritps/Triggers updated, Silenced Wingman in Mission 3 (eliminate spam) Welcome to Bold Cheetah, a realistic and challenging 13 mission campaign for the DCS F/A-18 Hornet that will test both your and your aircraft to the limits. DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3326679/ Before we get into the details, there are some requirements that you need to be aware of before downloading and flying this campaign. • You MUST own the DCS F/A-18C Hornet Module • You MUST own the DCS Persian Gulf Map ** YOU MIST OWN THE DCS SUPERCARRIER TO OKAY THIS CAMPAIGN! ** Mission documents are included in the zip file. Please read the Bold Cheetah Campaign overview for more details on installation. ******************** Bold Cheetah is designed for a player who is proficient in the use of the DCS F/A-18C Hornet module and its weapons systems. You will also require knowledge of US Carrier operations and how to conduct operations off both aircraft carriers and land bases. Examples of challenges you will need to be able to perform include: 1. Case 1 and Case 3 operations, day and night 2. Ability to meet time over target requirements 3. Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced combat environment 4. Advanced targeting pod and weapon system employment 5. Formation flying. In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is happening once in flight. A glossary of useful terms is located at the end of this guide to help you out. ******************** INSTALLATION This campaign is designed and tested for DCS the latest Open Beta version.. I will endeavour to keep it updated as new Open Beta versions are released. I highly recommend players use the Open Beta version of DCS to get the most from this campaign. This means it will not work well on any version of DCS that is not the latest. Unzip the contents of the download to your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions\Campaigns\en folder. Since there is not currently an Iranian F-14 skin in game, I have used the amazing IRIAF Blue-Grey skin by Sadjad_Vosoul, which can be downloaded here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/ Download and extract that file into your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-14B folder. If you do not have a folder named F-14B, then you can create one in that location, then extract the contents. If you do not do this, the Iranian F-14 in-game will visually appear to be an American Tomcat. Once you download and install the campaign and skin, you will find it in the “My Campaigns” section listed as F/A-18C – Bold Cheetah. ******************** SITUATION UPDATE JUNE 1, 2013 The USS Abraham Lincoln and its task group have taken up station in the Gulf of Oman, and will soon commence air operations in support of the invocation of Article 5. The objective of our presence is to deter the Iranians from any military expansion in the region, and to show our allies that we are here for them. Our goal is to provide support to the UAE governments in fighting the growing insurgency on the peninsula. US, British, Canadian and French special forces are now on the ground, helping advise the UAE military in counter insurgency strategy. The air wing will provide assistance to this effort, including Close Air Support over and on UAE territory, and air defense of UAE and Saudi Arabian airspace. At this time, we will not be commencing any military action against any regular Iranian military force, nor will we violate the 12-mile Iranian territorial waters or 12-mile airspace boundary. However, we will be ready to strike, if and when called upon. It is hoped that once the regime in Tehran gets a taste of our presence in the region, cooler heads will prevail and they will de-escalate. ******************** More information is included in the Docs folder inside the .zip file. ******************** Author’s Note As you may know, the release of Bold Cheetah has been delayed for quite some time. In fact, the campaign has been completed for well over a year now, but due to some real-life challenges I had to put off submitting it as an official, 3rd party developer. These challenges are continuing, and I foresee them continuing into the near future. This situation has, unfortunately, caused me to pause my pursuit of releasing Bold Cheetah as a 3rd party, paid DLC. At the same time, I’m aware that I’ve been promising it’s been “coming soon” for far too long. I have decided to release the campaign, for free, into the User Files section of the ED website. I started working on Bold Cheetah back in 2018 and finished it up in 2021. It’s been a lot of hard work, and I’m really excited for you to finally enjoy it and I look forward to your feedback. HELLO AND WELCOME TO FIRST IN DEFENSE Who we are We are a DCS unit that hosts casual yet challenging Naval and Marine events and campaigns taking place during the closing years of the Cold War, as the Soviet Union begins to crumble and tensions in the Middle East escalate. To further simulate this time period, First In Defense simulates five squadrons and their accompanying airframes: ➣ VF-31 Tomcatters flying F-14A Tomcats ➣ VFA-132 Privateers flying F/A-18C Hornets ➣ VMFA-321 Hell’s Angels flying F-4S Phantoms (Simulated by F-4Es) ➣ VMA-542 Tigers flying AV-8B Harriers ➣ VMA-133 Dragons flying A-4M Skyhawks (Simulated by A-4Es) All of our simulated squadrons participate in each of our operations, requiring constant teamwork and precise timing to complete objectives and return safely. Custom liveries representing the listed squadrons are available and are mandatory for member attendance. Squadron Event Information Events include weekly operations ranging from casual single missions, expansive PvE campaigns, joint operations with neighboring squadrons, and monthly tournaments. Each mission is hosted Thursday through Sunday, with run times tailored to North American players. Due to the nature of our squadron, training and related activities are not currently included in our syllabus. As such, our squadron does not require check rides or proof of skill to join and participate in operations. All we ask is basic proficiency with your chosen airframe and SRS functionality. Although frequent events may be challenging to new players, we strive to create missions that are completable by all skill levels and provide valuable learning experiences for all members. Information regarding weekly mission dates, map information, mission briefings and sign-up forms are posted on our Discord channel (See below). Please note that access to this intel is only available after submitting a squadron application. Leadership & Advancement As our squadron does not require training or check rides, rank and advancement are entirely based on member attendance. Each attending member begins as a Navy Ensign (ENS) or Marine Second Lieutenant (2LT), based on their chosen airframe and squadron. As members attend more events, they are promoted to higher ranks, leading to more control within operations as flight leads and planners. Permanent Discord link

This is for fellow simmer pilots who are seeking something more serious than regular gaming chairs and racing seats. Hopefully also for DIY enthusiasts who find the NACES too time-consuming to work out. Despite the broad selection of DIY materials and tools, the construct of this seat presents quite a challenge to work on by hand. Unlike the ACES II which is mostly sheet metal. The Martin Baker NACES is a combination of both solid chunks and thin pieces of metal, plastic and organic materials, each requiring its best suited means of fabrication. Take the seat bucket side wall above, a piece of thick aluminum plate needs to be milled down before it's bent to the right angles on a multi-ton bending machine. Screw holes are then tapped and had right lengths of steel thread inserts planted within. Cloth had to be selected with the right texture and color which closely match that of the real seat cushions. Sourcing straps of the right texture is another difficult task. Once the fabrics and filling foam are ready, it takes industrial grade cutting, forming and sewing equipment to piece them together. Snap buttons have to be riveted in place before the back cushions can be filled and closed up. Spring loaded harness retractors are customized with the designated model of straps. Velcros need to be sewn onto certain sections of straps so they can be secured or detached from the headrest, which by itself, is a dense foam that requires a special process to manufacture. Sheet metal is used throughout the seat. Large sheets of aluminum are laser cut, riveted with clinch nuts or threaded studs and bent into 3D shapes as designed. The different metal pieces are then joined together with various types of rivets, forming very robust assemblies. Another way of forming sheet metal is stamping. The back pad, seat pan and the top cover of the chute container are stamped out of steel sheets between custom made molds with tons of force from a hydraulic press. The result after thorough powder coating in matte black. Rubber has proven to be another difficult material to work with in a home DIY setting. Getting the helical color patterns to match the crisscross texture isn't good enough, the colors have to stick and endure sustained use of the ejection handle. Besides individual parts and stiff assemblies, the seat also depends on a collection of moving mechanisms to function. In a real jet, the pilot needs to adjust his sitting position in order to get the correct line of sight. This is achieved through the seat bucket actuator. A 2000N electric cylinder is incorporated in the main structure just for this purpose. The cylinder runs on 24V DC power, preferably with a 5Amp max capacity. The power supply is sourced separately, while a section of power cable is supplied with the seat. It comes with a pair of circular plugs which mate with the receptacles behind the seat. Height adjustment is commanded through the flip of a toggle switch mounted on the left of the seat bucket. The retractors for shoulder straps are spring loaded and can actually pull back on the straps. They are not actively actuated by default though. Kinematic models are used to verify the movement of each mechanism before finalizing the design of linkages and handles. The resistance of the shoulder harness control handle is adjustable through a screw cap on the top. All the handles are operable and internally linked to optional electronics. You can even actuate the sears and have the spring loaded plungers pull out. Check the following video for how they work: When it comes to the ejection handle, I feel your pain in making the repetitive Ctrl+E work with DIY electronics. Sometimes a few extra line of code is enough to hinder the progress by days for the lack of required experience. As much as we love Arduino, we prefer to build every PCB in our products on our own. That means we design all the PCB's for ourselves, and write all the firmware for ourselves. PCB assemblies are then made by professional plants to ensure proper quality. The switch box on the left side distributes 24V power directly through output cables. Some analog electronic tricks are used on the PCB to tap into that same 24V output without frying up chips, while allowing the firmware to determine whether and which way each of the toggles are flipped. Writing firmware from scratch allows us to make the seat show up on the computer as anything we want. In this case, it appears as a generic game controller with a number of buttons. The following video demonstrates how these buttons can be configured in DCS World: If you find it pointless to assign exactly the same virtual handle functions in game to the physical handles on the seat, you're welcome to get creative and find other uses for them, at the end of the day, they are only generic buttons. Bear in mind the ejection handle is the special one, it is hardwired to trigger three quick and consecutive button strokes to activate the ejection process in game. All possible scenarios such as pulling or pushing a handle from its resting state, or quickly switching it on and off are anticipated while coding the firmware. Noise from snapping mechanical contacts is also properly debounced to eliminate runaway issues in all branches of program execution. This seat is now on sale for $2,890 at our official site: https://www.neoengress.com/naces-ejection-seat . There're a bunch of other cool stuff on other pages to indulge your curiosity if it's new to you. The USB interface, switches and signal cabling requires an additional $360. If anyone is interested in this product, please feel free to write to us at info@neoengress.com for more information, because currently it's the only way to place orders.

Are you interested in learning to fly, fight and maximize your abilities in Modern DCS Jets? Would you like to fly fun and challenging cooperative missions as part of a team? Do you have a willingness to learn? We take beginners and we're patient if you put in the effort. If your answers are "Yes," then give the Virtual Armed Forces a go! The Virtual Armed Forces (VAF) is looking to expand its ranks with enthusiastic and motivated virtual pilots and RIOs who enjoy cooperative missions. The VAF has five squadrons primarily supporting three active airframes and one in an inactive state: 111th Fighter Squadron "Ace in the Hole" flying the F-16C Viper - Recruiting Pilots VFA-131 "Wildcats" flying the F/A-18C Hornet - Recruiting Pilots VFA-136 "Knighthawks" flying the F/A-18C Hornet - Recruiting Pilots VF-142 "Ghostriders" flying the F-14A/B Tomcat (currently inactive) 428th "Buccaneers" flying the F15-E Strike Eagle - Recruiting Pilots and WSO's We have openings available for our F-16, F-18 and F-15E squadrons. We don't expect Chuck Yeager; we're happy with Charlie Brown. We prefer good attitudes to good sticks, because with good attitude skills can be learned. We ask only that you bring a good attitude, a willingness use tactics and cooperate as a team, and the dedication to undertake our training syllabus. In return, we will provide our own individual attention to develop your skills. Additionally, we foster a fun, friendly, and supportive environment with no formal rank structure or command hierarchy. Our membership includes a number of civil and former military aviators, and we're all here to have fun! The VAF also boasts custom individual skins created by one of the more prolific skinners in the DCS community. Our comprehensive training program teaches you basic airmanship and 2-ship formation tactics. We focus on realistic training in our Student Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) program. SUPT starts out with VFR flying, landing and take-off patterns, close formation flying and then moves on to IFR, Refueling and Weapons Training. Progression is at the student's pace and flight status is based on the ability to fly safe and to adhere to some basic operational standards. We recruit in small groups to ensure that individual training needs are met and that new members have an opportunity to get to know the group. We currently operate four severs one for training and three for missions. We fly most days from 3pm Pacific until 9PM Pacific. Weekends are throughout the day on our Dynamic Campaigns unless otherwise scheduled. Come watch the VAF on the Air Combat Sim Podcast: If you are still interested, please visit https://www.virtualarmedforces.com/ Please read the VAF rules and regulations and then apply by joining our Discord at https://discord.gg/NRaZbcK9nJ.

I am having much trouble with my Hornet cockpit display alignment. When I start the module it gives me the attached view. I can shift it somewhat with R-shift/4 or 5 but it is unflyable. When I start all of my other modules they are correctly aligned. Is it possible for me to remove this module and reinstall it?

Recently I got the f-18 hornet and tried flying it with vr hand controllers, my original plan was to use it exclusively in vr with them, but that hope is dashed so I was wondering what hotas under 200 would you suggest for the hornet in vr?

Hello everyone. Need help here. I bought the Saitek X-56, and I am having issues. I calibrated the joystick and Axis tuned my X56 to my F-18. While playing the game and I'm pitching and rolling, my plane acts a little erratic like it wobbles or lose control momentarily, and plane stalls even when I am going at a decent speed. When I disconnect the joystick and use my keyboard, the F18 flies well. No stalling or wobbles. I also used another stick, my X52, and my plane flies fine. I played with the curvature and deadzones and no luck. Please help. 1. Video of what is happening. 2. Video of just keyboard. 3. Another video of what is wrong.

Does anyone know how to increase the amount of G’s pulled before the wings break on the F/A-18C? I would like to mess around with this and see what’s possible

Does anyone know where the files are for radar performance? I have the CJS Super Hornet Mod, and in the .lua file for it, there is a line that reads: ' RADAR = "AN/APG-73" ' I believe this means the .lua finds this radar file to use in the super hornet. Where is the AN/APG-73 file located?

Hey all, New to the forums so I am not sure if this is the right spot to place this request. I am looking to get ideas on building a simpit for F/A-18 DCS sim. I have seen many articles but they all seem pretty outdated. Does anyone have any sites or resources that are still relevant and good for building, programming arduino's etc to create a good working cockpit for F-18 Sim? I have years of experience as an airframer for F/A-18 A-F's , as well as in flight troubleshooter, so I have logged quite a few hours in sorties in my squadron. Its SUPER helpful and more enjoyable experiences when the cockpit matches the usability.

Hello F/A-18 pilots and LUA programmers, Using the provided display preset to export the left and right DDI's on the same monitor. I can use those because of my ultrawide. The DDI's are not readable without a background. i managed to add a mesh to the DDI's but i cant get them to be fully opaque. This is the code used in MPD_BASE.lua. the colour of the material is for debug purposes. The goal is to get the yellow square to be fully opaque so i can make it black and use it as the background. Thanks for the help in advanced, NCC1701JR MPD_base.lua

Hello Everyone, Just curious if ED ever plans to add the following aircraft into FC3? F-14A/D Tomcat F-15E F-16C F-18C/D/E/G/F F-22 MiG-29M MiG-35 SU-34 SU-50T PAK FA SU-57 Fictional aircraft: MiG-28 From Top-gun! (1986) = Converted F-5E I guess we can only hope for now, but if enough people request it, it will happen! There are some mods that needs to be added in with these aircraft as well as those that have already been released in FC3. Over the wings vapor, yes there is a mod out there, however, it only works on certain aircraft like the SU-27/SU-33 I believe and does not work in IC? If this modder can make it work than Dynamic Eagles should be able to as well! Cheers Mates!

Hey! I'm currently creating a short funny moments & stupidity playlist series on YouTube and trying out all kind of crazy stuff within DCS World. Yep, might sound stupid for some people, and it is, but that's where the fun comes in (for some people). And ofcourse, I'm also training and practicing serious flights, maybe I will create some content of that too in the future. This is the 1st episode of the Short Funny Moments & Stupidity series: https://youtu.be/iBCIikHl5_c

Greetings! I have young kids and therefore unusual flight windows on Weekends at 0500, California time. I'm open to pretty much anything; flying with a squadron, casual flying, carrier ops, training, SEAD, whatever.
